Landscape Photography Skills: Stormy Sky
When you see the dramatic stormy sky, you can choose to run around and try to Discover some points of interest in its foreground. The dramatic sky creates a feeling you can't get from any other scene, just as classical painters would have done.
If you are photographing a few bursts of sunlight penetrating clouds, be careful not to take the light meter reading from the light column, as you want it to be bright. The same applies to the burst of white foam as it hits the rocks. Remember, if the sky is too dark, the meter will overexpose the image.
Using weather can enhance your photos and help you convey a mood or mood. Streets that are wet and reflecting neon lights look different than they do when the sun is shining on them, and abandoned houses shrouded in mist can have more of an atmosphere than they do on a clear day. Try photographing scenes near your home in different weather conditions and compare the mood each image conveys. You will find endless fun in it.
