During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there were defensive facilities such as forts and smoke piers, which were called "Shashantou" and later referred to as "Shantou".
2. Shanwei: Formerly known as "Shan Mei", which means beautiful seaside scenery. It is precisely because of the topographical features that the sandbar is at the end of this place, and the word "beauty" in "Shan Mei" is homophonic with the word "tail" in the local dialect, so people gradually changed "Shan Mei" to "Shanwei".
