The project is located in danjiangkou city City, 800 meters downstream of the intersection of Hanjiang River and its tributary Danjiang River. The hydraulic structure consists of concrete dam, power station, ship lift system and two water diversion channels 30 kilometers upstream. It is a large-scale water conservancy project designed, constructed and managed by China after the founding of New China, which focuses on flood control and has comprehensive utilization of power generation, irrigation, shipping and aquaculture.

Climbing to the top of the dam, you can have a bird's eye view of danjiangkou city, where there are many buildings, beautiful scenery and white walls and tiles. Looking back, the magnificent dam locked the Han River, forming a colorful picture, which is a good place for sightseeing.
