When is the Water Chaos Festival?

From the 14th to 27th of the twelfth lunar month, it is called the "Water-splashing Festival". This is a custom of Tujia nationality. It is said that during the "Water Splashing Festival", there is no taboo on geomantic omen and ground breaking, so people can use this period to dig ditches (actually sewers), fill the steps (steps) and dry the dust (cleaning the screen dust indoors with a long broom, etc.) to welcome the new year with a clean and brand-new look.

Tujia people call themselves "Bizka". "Tujia" is the name of the Han nationality "Bizka". The northern branches of Tujia nationality (Xiangxi, Zhangjiajie, Hubei, Enshi, Wufeng, Changyang, southeastern Chongqing and northeastern Guizhou) call themselves "Bizika, Bizika, Mizika, etc.". Tujia people planted in the south are only distributed in several villages in luxi county, Xiangxi, Hunan. Claiming to be "Muntz", the southern branch of Tujia language cannot communicate with the northern Tujia language, and now it is only used by more than 900 people in Luxi.
