Can tomatoes be put on the counter?

Tomatoes can be used as fruit sacrifices.

The fruit offered to Buddha should be fragrant. Don't choose fruit with strong pungent smell, such as durian, because its taste is not clean and can't make people happy, so it is not suitable. We can choose fresh fruits that we often eat, such as apples, bananas, oranges, watermelons, grapes, pitaya and so on. Before offering Buddha, it should be washed with clear water to show purity.

Some people say that there is a saying among the people that if the homonym of the fruit name is not good, it is not appropriate to offer Buddha. For example, the homonym of "pear" means leaving, which is unlucky, so it can't be used to worship Buddha. This kind of thinking is not as good as Buddhism, nor is it a belief in Buddhism. Don't misinterpret Buddhism, listen to it.

Extended data

There is no limit to the number of fruit offerings, depending on how motivated you are. Merit lies in the heart, not in quantity. If your heart is not right, your heart is unclean, and you are greedy for merit, then no matter how much fruit you give, there is no merit at all.

Instead, you provide a kind of fruit. As long as you really support it, natural merits are boundless. Just like Liang Wudi in the Northern and Southern Dynasties, although he built temples, helped seal scriptures and did countless good things to promote Buddhism and benefit students, he was greedy for merits, so the founder of Dharma said that he only had blessings and no merits.
