Located in the East Third Ring Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing, Capital Library is a comprehensive large-scale public library in Beijing. It is a "national first-class library" assessed by the former Ministry of People and Culture of China, and the first batch of "national key protection units of ancient books".
The history of Capital Library can be traced back to 19 13, which was formed by the merger of Shi Jing Library Branch, Shi Jing Public Library and Central Park Library initiated by Mr. Lu Xun. After the Northern Expedition Revolution, the original three libraries were renamed and merged several times and changed to Beijing No.1 Library. 1953, renamed Beijing Library; 1956 10 month, officially named Capital Library.

Precious ancient books
Official website information in September 2065438+2008 shows that the Capital Library has nearly 500,000 books (pieces), including more than 5,200 rare books and more than 67,000 rare books.
The Capital Library specially selected rare ancient books for digitization, supplemented by detailed bibliographic data, and built an image database of rare ancient books. The ancient books collected in the database are all precious ancient books and characteristic documents selected in the National List of Precious Ancient Books. 148 kinds of precious ancient books were selected into the fifth batch of national precious ancient books list.
