2. Baogu Mountain is steep, with rugged rocks and towering peaks. Wang Wanxiang, a scholar in Qing Dynasty, summed up the "Twenty-four Scenes of Shimen" here. After the completion of Shimen Reservoir, Baogu is the icing on the cake. The reservoir dam is 88 meters high and 260 meters long, with a magnificent shape. The lake is rippling with blue waves, and you can take a cruise ship and speedboat to shuttle through the 17 km long lake, where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the lake. There are many kinds of waterfowl here, among which giant salamander, turtle and egret are the most precious.
3. Baogu Shimen is a natural museum. Since the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, it has been the traffic hub of the Central Plains, Northwest China and Southwest China. The plank road erected on the Shu Road, which is "difficult to climb to the sky", is a miracle of ancient traffic, and Shimen is the most steep and peculiar section of the plank road. Now the newly-built antique plank road flies over the steep cliff and traces the vicissitudes of history. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, the Shimen Tunnel, which was excavated by the method of "fire and water excitation", was the earliest man-made tunnel in the world.
4. There are more than 100 cliff stone carvings written by literati since the Han Dynasty near Shimen. The most famous soul treasure of the country, Shisanpin, is called "Shimen in Hanzhong, the teacher of Japan" by Japanese calligraphers. Among them, Cao Cao's Xue Kun, Sean's Yuhu and Zheng Zi's Shi Hu are vigorous and fluent, while Ode to Shimen and Shimen Ming are regarded as the models of China's calligraphy art since ancient times. Most of these stone carvings are now collected in Hanzhong Museum. Li Anyun plank road on Liancheng mountainside is lined with stone carvings. Now submerged in water, Baodian is said to be the hometown of Baodian, a beautiful woman who died in the Western Zhou Dynasty.
