Monkeys in Emei Mountain

When spring blooms, Mount Emei is alive again. There is a happy event in the monkey hole. It turns out that these days, "Monkey Ding" has been added to the cave. One of the monkeys was clever and naughty, so his mother had to name him "Tao Tao".

Little Tao Tao will soon be able to walk by himself. Unlike our human children, they can only walk when they are about one year old, and they can't walk steadily. Little Tao Tao can not only walk, but also climb trees quickly. He can also climb branches and jump from tree to tree. He is so agile that he can easily win the Olympic champion. Unfortunately, Tao Tao Jr. is not human, so he can't take part in human competitions.

Once upon a time, Mount Emei was inaccessible. Except for a few families and temples in the mountains, there are almost no pedestrians on the road. Even pilgrims often burn incense in temples at the foot of the mountain. So at that time, Mount Emei was a paradise for animals and a kingdom of plants, with inexhaustible wild fruits and delicious food. As the saying goes, "there is no tiger in the mountain, and the monkey is king." Without the tiger in Emei Mountain, the monkey family will grow up and become a landscape in Emei Mountain.

But now more and more people are entering Emei Mountain, and many wild fruit trees have been spoiled by hordes of tourists, so monkeys have less and less food and have to ask tourists for it. Fortunately, tourists also need to help them swim generously. They usually buy all kinds of food at roadside stalls to feed the monkeys. Maybe on weekdays, they don't even want to give a penny to people who need his help. In the long run, monkeys are not afraid of people. They wait on the mountain and live a life of reaching for food every day, but they are also very comfortable.

Tao Tao Jr. grew up rapidly in such an environment. Summer has come, and it's already chubby. The taupe monkey hair is shiny and particularly attractive. The older monkey is full. Always leave the roadside and find a place to sleep or play. However, what about little Tao Tao? It seems to like to stay on the side of the road. It is curious about the camera in the hands of tourists. When it somersaults or hangs on a tree, it always sees crowds of tourists pointing their cameras at it, making a "click-click" sound and sometimes flashing. Tao Tao Jr. is determined to get one.

The opportunity has finally come. One day, little Tao Tao was full and playing in a tree. He saw a man with golden hair coming up the stairs. This man is very happy to meet Tao Tao Jr. With a camera in one hand and a few peanuts in the other, I probably want to take a picture of feeding monkeys. Tao Tao came down from the tree without peanuts, but quickly grabbed the camera from the tourist's other hand and turned and jumped to the height of the tree.

The tourist was a little anxious and said to little Tao Tao in the tree, "Give it to me, please!" However, Tao Tao has never even learned Chinese. How can he understand English? Tao Tao Jr. made an interesting face as he watched anxious tourists tell him what to do.

Tao Tao Jr. took this thing and raised his camera like a tourist, but he couldn't get it at all. He shook the camera and suddenly pressed the shutter, only to hear a click. Tao Tao Jr. got a fright, dropped his camera and jumped into another tree and ran away. The tourists picked up the camera that fell from the tree and tried it, probably to check if it was broken.

Generally speaking, monkeys are more harmonious and caring, and occasionally there are disharmonious factors. Yesterday, an elderly brown-haired monkey and Tao Tao competed for peanuts and played several times. Today, little Tao Tao saw it again. He knows that brown hair has the worst temper among monkeys, so he tries to avoid it. Another tourist came over, took out a handful of peanuts and greeted little Tao Tao warmly. Brown hair suddenly jumped out of nowhere and made a sudden snatch and took the peanuts that Tao Tao had already got. The Monkey King, who happened to be not far away, saw this scene and immediately rushed over and gave Brown Mao a good beating.

In autumn, tourists gradually decrease. At this moment, Tao Tao, who was waiting by the roadside, noticed two firewood collectors. They never tease them, feed them or even look at them when they pass by. Other older monkeys never asked them for anything, and even showed awe. He felt very strange.

One day, while the Monkey King was not looking, he followed them quietly. Not far from the Monkey King's territory, he saw them carrying firewood to build a temple. Soon, they came out with some white steamed bread in their hands. Probably saw Tao Tao staring at the steamed bread in their hands, and one of them broke off a small piece and fed it to Tao Tao.

Happy days are always short. In a blink of an eye, winter has arrived, the wind is cold, and there are few pedestrians on the way up the mountain with heavy snow. Tao Tao Jr. and his friends haven't had enough to eat for several days. These days, he goes shopping in dream of eating every day. Strangely, in the dream of the last two days, I dreamed that the firewood collector fed it steamed bread. Soft steamed bread tastes delicious!

When I woke up in the morning, Tao Tao was thinking about the steamed bread in my dream. It was found in Shan Ye, and soon a dozen dead branches were found. Holding these dead branches, it came to the temple. It put the dead branches in front of the temple, then jumped aside and waited in the snow, waiting for the temple door to open.

It snowed more tightly in the morning, and the whole world was dyed silvery white by snow. At the dawn, the temple gate finally creaked open. An old monk looked at this pile of dead branches at the gate of the temple and was very surprised. He looked up and looked around and saw Tao Tao squatting not far from the temple gate. His eyes are so clear, as if he were a child full of longing. Seeing it hungry, the old monk was full of pity. He couldn't bear to refuse this little monkey full of spirituality. He took two white-flour steamed buns from his house on the mountain and gave them to Tao Tao. Tao Tao Jr. took the steamed bread, turned around, jumped away, and soon disappeared in the vast Xue Hai.

I heard this story in a temple when I visited Emei Mountain many years ago.
