Why is sourdrang queen's Mausoleum outside the Qing Mausoleum?

Sourdrang queen is one of the most famous women in history of qing dynasty history. She experienced three emperors in her life, assisted by Emperor Shunzhi and Emperor Kangxi, and was praised as a virtuous queen by later generations.

In the 26th year of Kangxi in Qing Dynasty (1688), the outstanding female politician of Qing Dynasty died at the age of 75.

According to the funeral system of Qing Dynasty, sourdrang queen should be buried with her husband, namely Emperor Taizong of Qing Dynasty. But in the end, her body was not transported to Zhaoling (Huangtaiji Mausoleum) in Shenyang, but was placed outside the royal cemetery of the Qing Dynasty in Beijing.

Kangxi ordered the temporary Anfeng Hall to be built outside Dongling, and the Zigong (coffin) of Empress Xiao Zhuang was placed in the temporary Anfeng Hall, but the underground palace was not built. It lasted for decades, and it was not until a few years after Kangxi's death that Yong Zhengdi changed the temporary Anfeng Hall into Zhao Qianling's Tomb and built the underground palace. On the 10th day of December in the third year of Yongzheng, sourdrang queen was officially buried in the underground palace of Zhaoxiling.

Emperor Kangxi always loved his grandmother, sourdrang queen. Why didn't Xiaozhuang transport her body back to Zhaoling, Shenyang after her death, nor was she buried in the underground palace of the Qing Dongling, but only arranged for the temporary Anfengtang built outside the Qing Dongling? This question is reminiscent of the Queen Mother Xiao Zhuang who had a lot of scandals with Regent Dourgen in her early years. Is it also because of Dourgen that Kangxi arranged this?

According to the official records of the Qing Dynasty, sourdrang queen once said to Emperor Kangxi before his death: "Emperor Taizong Zigong was too humble and disrespectful. At this time, he was buried together. Not opening fields is a waste of time and people, and it is not the meaning of burial. I love you father and son, and I can't bear to go far. I will be safe in Zunhua, with no regrets. " Therefore, the reason why sourdrang queen was not buried in Zhaoling in Shenyang was actually her own arrangement. As for whether it was because of the love between Shunzhi and Kangxi, or because of the affair with Dourgen, only Xiaozhuang knew.

And why did Emperor Kangxi bury sourdrang queen's tomb outside the tomb of the Qing Dynasty? There are also several explanations. The most popular nature is to link sourdrang queen and Dourgen's "those things". Therefore, Emperor Kangxi had a room to hide, and it was not convenient to bury sourdrang queen in the Qing Dongling, so he had to temporarily build a temporary Anfeng Hall beside him.

In addition, there are two official explanations: First, the Xiaoling Mausoleum in the emperor shunzhi was built at the foot of the main peak of Changrui Mountain, and it occupies a supreme position in the cemetery. Xiao Zhuang, as the emperor shunzhi's mother, buried her anywhere in the mausoleum, which was lower than Xiaoling's and out of proportion to her seniority. Second, although sourdrang queen was buried in the Changrui Mountain area of Zunhua, she and the Zhaoling Tomb of Shenyang Huang Taiji are still a system in terms of geomantic omen. Therefore, sourdrang queen's mausoleum is called Zhao Qianling.

However, of the above three statements, the first one is obviously the most convincing, and that is having an affair with Dourgen. Sourdrang queen's status is respected and should not be lower than that of the emperor shunzhi's mausoleum. Although this explanation makes sense, sourdrang queen's mausoleum didn't even have a dungeon for decades after her death, which is not the proper treatment for the venerable person. As for Zhaoling in Shenyang, it is still the same system, which is even more nonsense. The two places are more than 600 kilometers apart, which is the same system, so any place on the earth can be related.

Therefore, only sourdrang queen's theory of having an affair with Dourgen can best explain why sourdrang queen's mausoleum is outside the Qing Tombs. This is probably why Emperor Kangxi did not build an underground palace for his beloved grandmother. In order to avoid the Queen Mother Xiao Zhuang and herself going underground in the future, and unable to explain to the commanding ancestors, she simply didn't build an underground palace for Xiao Zhuang, leaving this thorny problem to her son Yongzheng to solve. For Yongzheng, what happened to sourdrang queen in those days was too far away from him. Anyway, he knows nothing, and there is no psychological pressure that he can't face his ancestors. Therefore, out of filial piety, it is reasonable to build an underground palace for sourdrang queen.
