Brief introduction of cerebral infarction in watershed area
Watershed cerebral infarction, or cerebral watershed infarction (WI), refers to the cerebral infarction that occurs at the junction of two main cerebral arteries, mostly at the junction of the larger cerebral arteries supplying blood. Because it is mainly located between the blood supply areas of cortical artery and the blood supply areas of basal ganglia artery, it is also called marginal cerebral infarction.
