The legend about the origin of the name of Langzhong Ancient Town

A long time ago, there was a place where people yearned to become immortals. It was a geomantic treasure land by the Jialing River (Western Han River). It is surrounded by mountains on three sides and water on one side. The jade-belt-like Jialing River gently turned a corner from her side, and then left reluctantly. There is a mountain by the river called Jinping Mountain.

Although this mountain is not high, it is full of fairy spirit. Trees cover the sky, flowers and grass are covered with fragrant bamboo shadows swaying everywhere, and there are many halls, pavilions and temples on the mountain where pilgrims are constantly filled with incense. It is a good place for literati, poets, friends, pilgrims and tourists to gather.

There is a towering ancient tree on the north mountainside in front of Jinping Mountain. I don’t know who planted it. The tree trunk is tall and tall, the branches are thick and strong, and the leaves are rich and green. One branch is like a giant hand, stretching forward in the air, with a pair of precious bells hanging on it, one female and one male, known as the couple's bell. The two are deeply in love, the husband sings and the wife follows, and they are extremely affectionate.

In the morning, they get up in the morning light, sway their golden bodies, and dance Ana's colorful bell dance, letting the bells float into the distance to wake people up for work; in the evening, they dance in the sunset, calling People go home. Year after year, they spent their days in peace, comfort and happiness...

However, something unexpected happened. One day, an evil man was visiting this mountain and saw this pair of precious bells, and he suddenly became ill. This man wandered around the old tree for several days during the day, observing the terrain, and planned to steal the clock at night. Bao Zhong had also noticed the villain's intentions and couldn't help but become nervous. They told each other to be more careful and to be on guard.

On a dark and windy night, the villain secretly climbed up the big tree and extended his sinful black hand towards Bao Zhong. Faced with the sudden attack, Baozhong fought back desperately, but in the end he was unable to save his life due to his weak strength. Just when the villain was about to succeed, the male bell broke free from the clutches, turned to the female bell and said sadly: "Madam, I'll take the first step!" Suddenly he jumped down and fell into the rolling waves of the Jialing River.

When the female bell saw this, she burst into tears and was so painful that she wanted to jump. "My husband, we are on the same journey!" The scoundrel has been caught tightly by the villain and cannot escape.

The villain stole the female bell and traveled on a starry night, climbing mountains and wading in rivers. I was uneasy all the way, for fear of being discovered and losing my life. One day, I arrived at the Han River in Shaanxi Province and prepared to cross the river and enter the city. As the boat reached the middle of the river, suddenly dark clouds rolled in, strong winds, lightning and thunder. In an instant, the villain in the boat was swallowed up by the river, and the villain died unexpectedly.

The female bell was finally rescued, but from then on it wandered in a foreign land and became a sorrowful person forever... Later, this place was named Hanzhong after the bell, which is now the Hanshui Basin and the granary of southern Shaanxi. ——Hanzhong City.

The location of the magnificent bell that jumped into the waves of the Jialing River is called the Lang Bell. This clock swims back and forth in the waves of the river between Jinping Mountain and Baita Mountain day and night. Whenever the moon is full, he will look out of the river and look up affectionately at the ancient tree in his heart, thinking about the sweet years of love between husband and wife, and looking forward to their early reunion. This place is the ancient city of Langzhong, which is called the treasure land of Feng Shui and the "Langyuan Immortal Pavilion" by later generations.
