Land is a typical Danxia landform. The scenic spot is located in a narrow red bed basin composed of purple conglomerate and sandstone of Lower Cretaceous distributed in the north-south direction from Ziyuan County, Guangxi to Xinning County, Hunan Province. Bajiaozhai Scenic Area,140 million years ago, a layer of calcareous cemented purplish red conglomerate, glutenite and mudstone red layer with a thickness of more than 2000 meters was deposited in the early Cretaceous of Mesozoic. The red beds in the northeast of the scenic spot are1783.64m thick, and those in the south are 2189.07m thick. "Upward slope, steep body and slow feet" are the basic characteristics of Danxia landform in Bajiaozhai Scenic Area, and its development abundance has five characteristics: "large, abundant, long, dense and thick".

The main peak of Bajiaozhai is 8 14m above sea level, with a relative height of 500m. The complex geological structure and unique climatic conditions make the park stand on the cliff, and the Shan Qi is beautiful with water and cliffs. It has been praised by experts in geology, landscape and tourism as "the soul of Danxia in the world", "the wonders of Danxia in the world" and "a high-grade national ornamental park". In 2005, she was selected as one of the seven most beautiful Danxia in China in chinese national geography.

Bajiaozhai is located at the junction of Hunan and Guangxi in northern Guangxi, 0/70km away from Guilin/KLOC-,and is under the jurisdiction of Ziyuan County. The landscape of the reserve is very distinctive: there are 67 million years of Cretaceous red glutenite in Bajiaozhai Reserve, which is eroded by surface water along vertical joints, forming a rare typical Danxia landform landscape in China, with a total area of/kloc-0.25 million hectares, and its landscape is divided into Bajiaozhai and Zijiang; The former is the essence of the reserve, covering an area of 4000 hectares. When you climb the main peak of Bajiaozhai at 865,438+08 meters, you can see it from top to bottom. Dozens of mountain bags with a height difference of 60-80 meters are arranged in a large area, which is called "snail watching the sky" and the scenery is magnificent. The latter is a combination of Danxia landform and flowing water landform. The grotesque rocks on both sides of the Zijiang River are like forests, which look like landscapes, such as sailing stones, big-bellied arhats, Torch Mountain, drinking water like gods, and Tianmen at first sight. They are vivid and impressive. The riverbed is slow and fast because of the river, and the geomorphological characteristics of the two walls are obvious.

The cultural landscape of Bajiaozhai Nature Reserve is closely combined with the natural landscape. Zijiang has a beautiful bamboo garden, a quaint ethnic customs of Langtian Yaozhai, and a landform with strange peaks and rocks and meandering rivers and beaches. If people drive in the middle reaches of the Zhoujiang River, they will feel like dreaming. At the top of Bajiaozhai, there is an amazing Ganlie Qingquankou, next to which is an ancient temple of Ming Dynasty. Chiba at the foot of the cliff, the "snail watching the sky" at the foot of the mountain has a panoramic view and picturesque scenery.

There is Baoding Waterfall scenic spot with 15 square kilometers in the southeast suburb of the geological protection area. Because the river flows through the NE-trending fault zone, the waterfall is divided into 9 grades according to the difference of lithologic weathering resistance, with a total drop of 700 meters, which is the highest in Guangxi, and the fifth grade at its widest point, with a drop of 180 meters. Magnificent, it flows directly into Baoding Lake with an area of 24 hectares. The lake is dotted with islands.

Ecological landscape includes geological landscape, which is another feature of the reserve. 1996, the Ministry of Forestry approved Bajiaozhai area as a national forest park, with an area of 84,000 hectares, 6.7 times that of the geological protection area. In addition to the above-mentioned typical landscapes, the park also has a good vegetation forest landscape, in which a large number of precious trees and exotic flowers and grasses are distributed. Rare birds and animals are hidden in the park from time to time. Birds and flowers are fragrant all year round and the air is fresh, which is the geological and natural protection of Bajiaozhai.

In a word, Bajiaozhai Geological Nature Reserve is not only a bright spot in Guangxi geological industry, but also a treasure land for tourism, forestry and education in Guangxi. It is not only a good base for scientific research, investigation and teaching practice, but also a rare tourist attraction. [2]
