Nanputuo Temple was founded in the Tang Dynasty and changed its name after many vicissitudes. Now it was rebuilt in the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. The temple is backed by the five old peaks, facing the sea, surrounded by mountains and seas, and has excellent feng shui.
Nanputuo Temple is magnificent. First, a Maitreya Buddha entered the Heavenly King Hall, and there were bells and drums on the second floor behind the hall. The second entrance to the Hall of Ursa Major is a turret on the second floor, which contains "the Buddha of the Third World" and statues of Guanyin and Ananda Sakyamuni with thousands of hands and eyes. The third hall is the Hall of Great Compassion, which is an octagonal pavilion building with triple eaves and a height of 10 meters. There are four Guanyin statues in it, and there are eyes in the palm to show "infinite magic".
There is a sutra depository behind the temple. There are many inscriptions around Nanputuo Temple, including poems by Yu, a famous anti-Japanese, and stone carvings by Qian Di, the general of the Anti-Japanese Union and the first person from Fujian to Taiwan.
In Nanputuo Temple, there is the Minnan Buddhist College for monks and nuns. In the Gulian Temple in Shiwan, there is also a female class of Minnan Buddhist College, all of which are monks and nuns with haircuts and some young nuns with haircuts. Wanshilian Temple is a great scenic spot on Shishan Mountain. The temple was built in Ming Dynasty and rebuilt in Qing Dynasty. Because there are many stones around, it is named. On the right side of the temple, a huge stone rises abruptly, and there is a deep pit below. During the Jiaqing period of Xingquan Yongdao, the word "Shilin" was engraved on the stone, which was vigorous and simple. Standing here, you can have a panoramic view of Lion Mountain, overlooking the city scenery and seeing everything in the city. There are four Chinese characters "Ten thousand days in the sky" at the back of the temple. There is a valley spring under it and a hole in the sky, which is called "Little Taoyuan".
Next to Gulian Temple in Shiwan, there is a female class of Minnan Buddhist College. I remember a few years ago, a scholar visited a teacher in a Buddhist college and chatted with the students in a female class for a while. At a young age, it is not easy for them to study hard in places where tourists are woven. There are only two things you can console yourself with: first, the picturesque scenery in front of you and behind you is also a blessing; Second, the female students of Minnan Buddhist College don't have to cut their hair and wear plain clothes, but they can also wear modern red and green clothes. When I walked along the path to a small stone cave to rest, I met several girls wearing high heels, fashionable clothes and holding scriptures. It is said that such an "exception" is unique in the country. There is a temple of heaven under the drunken fairy rock in Shishan Wanshiyan. During the reign of Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty, it was rebuilt by Song Yue monks. There are two main halls side by side in the temple. In the past, whenever the morning dawned, the monks of the temple rang the bell 108 times, and the bell of the ancient temple spread far and wide, so it was known as the "morning bell in the sky" and one of the eight scenic spots in Xiamen. There is a stone cave behind the temple, which runs through the front and back. The wind whistled and the valley echoed, so it was called "Xiaotian Cave". There are three poems in the cave, one of which was written by Shi Dezheng, an anti-Japanese general in Taicang, Jiangsu. Poetry cloud:
Partial teacher spring crossing penghu, the main points overseas word first.
The drums thundered and the waves spread flat.
Controversy spreads evil in the sun, but traveling against the horizon is lonely.
For the sake of Tao Kaige, it's better to sing early. There are perches in Jiangnan in May.
On the top of Hongji Mountain in the northeast of Xiamen, there is a Genting Bank, formerly known as Fangguang Temple, which is the highest peak in Xiamen. In the past, there was still a view of Japan and Taiwan, facing the sea in the east, and the sunrise was considerable, forming a "Hung Kai View of the Sun", which was one of the eight scenic spots in Xiamen. Stone carvings on Tama Cliff nearby. On the top of the northern slope of Shishan Mountain, there is Taiping Rock. The caves and springs in front of Taiping Rock are looming, and the flowing water is gurgling. What is even more peculiar is the "Taiping Stone Laughter", one of the eight small scenic spots in Xiamen under the cliff stone carving of "Paradise". This stone is made up of four different natural rocks. The two boulders above are connected together, and the other end is open, just like the opening in a pen, which is lifelike. The word "stone smile" is engraved on the stone, and the poet Mo Ke wrote a poem to praise this unique scenery. There is a five-line saying:
On a happy and peaceful day, Lu Jiangshi smiled and resented.
There are many things in laughter, but you can't say them.
There are five laws of cloud:
Suddenly I saw the stone open, but I didn't hear the sound of the stone.
Because the night swallows the moon and spits clouds.
The Millennium pavilion drinks dew and the rice is clear.
It's good to be safe, long laugh and rest.
Between Taiping Rock and Wanshiyan in Shishan, it is said that partridges often inhabit, so it is called "partridge rock", also known as "Zhongyan". There is a Buddhist temple in Zhongyan to worship the Tathagata. There is a "soldier pavilion" nearby, which is said to be built to mourn the soldiers who died in Penghu as Shi Lang moved eastward into Taiwan Province Province. Now there are stone tablets. There is a slender boulder next to it, which looks like stalagmites, commonly known as "beating the board". Because of its scenic spot name "Zhongyan Jade", it is one of the eight scenic spots in Xiamen.
Bailu Cave is located at the south foot of Yuping Mountain in the northeast of Xiamen, behind Huxi Cave. There are Liuhe Cave, Chaotian Cave and Wanzai Cave. According to legend, when Zhu gave a lecture in Bailudong, Lushan Mountain, there were original temples and monasteries here. Later generations named it "Bailudong" in memory of him. There is a white deer clay sculpture in Wandong, which is called "White Deer Containing Smoke" and is one of the eight scenic spots in Xiamen, because smoke often gushes out and can be seen constantly.
Hu Lishan Fort is a very famous historical site in Xiamen, which is located in the seaside of the lake near Pucuo in the southeast of Xiamen. The terrain here is steep, facing the sea and with a wide view. It is an island corner across the sea and can control Xiamen Port. It has always been a coastal defense fortress. In the 17th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (189 1), Fujian Navy built a battery here, which was completed in the 22nd year of Guangxu. The battery is made of black camphor tree juice, lime, glutinous rice and sediment, which is extremely strong. A gun made by Krupp Arsenal in Germany is still preserved in the battery, with an inner diameter of 28 cm, a barrel length of 13.96 m and a weight of 49,000 kg. It is said that the range can reach 16000 meters or more. At that time, the cost was 52 thousand. The nearby city walls and fortresses are also well preserved.
Ziyunyan is located to the east of Zuixianyan in Shishan. Here, the ancient banyan trees are towering, the vegetation is deep and beautiful, and the water is flowing all year round. There is a huge stone engraved with "Ziyun Road", which is one of the exterior scenes of Xiamen. There are Buddhist temples and release ponds. There is a piano hole nearby. According to legend, Zheng Guangyi studied here, not only studying, but also playing the piano by the spring. Therefore, it is called "the piano hole for high reading" and is one of the exterior scenes of Xiamen. Huxi Cave is located in the north of Yuping Mountain in the northeast of Xiamen, also known as Yuping Temple. The scattered stones and ancient banyan trees on the mountain are natural adventures. Forests dig holes in rocks to build prismatic chambers, also known as "prismatic holes". There are many stone carvings inscribed by celebrities nearby. "Tiger Creek jathyapple" is one of the eight scenic spots in Xiamen. There is a boulder nearby with a poem carved by Lin Erjia. The poem says:
After passing the Tiger Creek several times, I still love this low mountain when I come back.
Climb to the top and you can see the sea, not as deep as clouds.
