Pagoda, originated from Buddhism, has been introduced to China for more than 2000 years. Its main functions are to climb high and overlook the enemy's situation, navigate extradition, decorate rivers and mountains and beautify the scenery. With the long evolution process, in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, a large number of Feng Shui pagodas, Wenfeng pagodas, Wenxing pagodas and Wenbing pagodas emerged one after another, making the gloomy green hills particularly beautiful. The Qingyun and Jiuzhai Twin Towers in Shunde are just such buildings.
Taiping Tower was built at the top of Taiping Mountain in Desheng District at 1600 (28th year of Wanli reign of Ming Dynasty). Because it is close to Jiuzhai Village, it is commonly known as "Jiuzhai Tower". It is an octagonal seven-story pavilion-style brick tower with a height of 25.58 meters and a simple and solid shape. 1945, the anti-Japanese guerrillas guarded the tower for three days and three nights to repel the attack of the Japanese puppet troops, and there are still bullet holes in the tower.
Qingyun Building, formerly known as Bush Building, was built two years later than Taiping Building. It is located in Bushshan in the southern suburbs of Daliang District, and then goes straight to the east gate of the county seat below to build Qingyun Road, renamed Qingyun Building. It is a seven-story octagonal pavilion-style brick tower with a height of 45.4 meters.
Speaking of the Twin Towers in Shunde, there is another touching story.
During the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, Ni, a native of Pujiang, Zhejiang Province, was appointed as the magistrate of Shunde. He is diligent and loves the people, but he believes in Feng Shui theory. In order to revitalize the cultural movement in Shunde, he took the lead in raising funds and built the Twin Towers of Taiping and Qingyun. To add scenery to the wilderness, during the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty, "peaceful spring rain" and "loose wind on the shady road", XY and SR were among the eight scenic spots in Shunde, which were talked about by local literati.
For more than 400 years, the Twin Towers have been a landmark building in the suburbs of this county. From 65438 to 0989, Shunde government allocated funds to rebuild the Twin Towers, which were turned into parks and became places for tourists to visit and win. Every traditional festival in China, the Double Ninth Festival, people come in droves, climb high and look far, and express their feelings with their eyes. Because Bush's Qingyun Tower coincides with the meaning of summit, it attracts many ambitious young people to fly their dreams here.
