It is not necessary to be religious to study metaphysics. Metaphysics is inherently science, and it is nothing more than a science. It's just that we took it too mysteriously in the past. Just like the equation 1+1=2, there is no mystery in it. What is the soul? The soul is a kind of substance, or a kind of field. To put it bluntly, metaphysics is the study of how these fields interact with each other, nothing more. Just like scientists need to use a large number of observations, experiments, and reasoning to prove their conclusions, metaphysics researchers should also use their own observations, experiments, and reasoning to conduct research, rather than limiting themselves to the conclusions of their predecessors. Metaphysics needs Galileo, Einstein, Bohr and Schr?dinger, and those who dare to think and experiment. It is a pity that from ancient times to the present, there are too few metaphysics researchers who dare to conduct bold experiments. Either we regard metaphysics as too mysterious, or we regard it as worthless. But there are too few people who actually do experiments honestly. This is the fundamental reason why metaphysics (including Taoism, magic, Feng Shui, Five Elements, Chinese Medicine, Bagua...) has hardly developed in thousands of years of human history! I think metaphysics and religion should be separated. Only when metaphysics is separated can metaphysics have a future. It is not necessary to believe in any religion to study metaphysics. Do you need to believe in religion to study things like "1+1=2" and "E=mc2"? unnecessary! The same goes for studying things like Bagua, Five Elements, and Magic. Studying metaphysics does not require belief in religion. It’s enough to think boldly and experiment boldly!
