The origin of Guanyin’s opening of the treasury:
The twenty-sixth day of the first lunar month is the annual opening day of Guanyin’s treasury. It is said that when Guanyin was practicing Taoism, there were 500 guardian Arhats. In order to test the performance of Guanyin, they turned into human monks and went to the Guanyin Temple to beg for food to satisfy their hunger.
When Guanyin saw a monk asking for help, he opened the warehouse and allowed each monk to enjoy various exquisite vegetarian dishes. After the five hundred monks filled their bellies, the remaining food was left for the worshipers to enjoy.
Since then, the evening of the 25th day of the first month of the lunar calendar has been designated as the day of "Guanyin Opening the Treasury". On this day every year, thousands of believers will flock to Guanyin Temple to pray and borrow money, hoping that they will have good fortune after borrowing money.
