How does AI flatten it?

1.AI flat long shadow making

It is made by using the mixed darkening mode. Steps:

1. Make a good background color: use the rectangle tool to draw a rectangle and fill it with red color

2. Apply the mixed darkening mode: use the ellipse tool to draw a circle and fill it with black (press Shift to draw a circle to get a full circle), and copy it to the shallowest position (press Ctrl+Alt) Adjust the transparency of the copied circle to , and move it to the next level (Ctrl+{)

Select two circles to blend (Ctrl+Alt+B), and set the parameters of the blending option (the parameters are for reference only) < P > Select the blended object, lighten the transparency, and change the mode to darken

3. Copy the heavy color circle and fill it with white: just use the direct selection tool (the empty white pointer tool). Copy (Ctrl+C) Select None (Ctrl+Shift+A)

Paste to the front (Ctrl+F)

2. How does AI make a shadow background

Make a long shadow with Illustator

We will show you two ways to make a long shadow with AI: one uses the path finder, and the other uses the mixed option.

method 1: mixing tools

the first step is to draw shapes

before we begin, we need to prepare the following elements: icon elements and background graphics. In addition, we need to choose the color matching with flat design style. There are some examples for your reference.

second step, copy and move

first, we make a long shadow for the icon element. To do this, we need to copy the icon element first and then paste it in place (Ctrl+f). Then move the copied elements by the same number of pixels along the positive or negative axis direction of X (depending on where we want to put the shadow) and the negative axis direction of Y.. (For example: x = y = >; X1=+1 y1=-1)

This is how we get the characteristic horizontal oblique downward angle of 45 degrees or 135 degrees of the long shadow.

third step, blending options

next we will use blending tools to make shadows. Click these two icon elements after selecting the blending option, and we will get a string of icon elements from beginning to end.

there is an option in the blending tool called, you can set a larger value to shorten the distance between elements to create a smooth transition effect that is unrecognizable to the naked eye.

Step 4 Change the color gradient

After mixing, the result will be a long shadow. If we set the color, transparency or blending mode, we will get different effects. Applying gradient will also get more vivid and interesting results.

step 5: crop the shadow

finally, because we want the icon to look continuous, we should crop the shadow beyond it. This step is very simple. Copy the background image and paste it in place, and put it on top of all other elements. After selecting all, apply it (Ctrl+7).

final effect

after doing the same operation on the background graphic of the icon, we will get the desired effect.

method 2: path finder

long shadows can also be made by using the path finder. This method may be slower, but it can make a more realistic effect.

Step 1

We create a rectangle with the same height as the diameter of the icon element.

Step 2

(The author didn't write it here, but the following is my method for reference only) Use the pen tool to outline the shape of the part to be removed and combine it with the path finder to remove it. Then set the color, transparency, blending mode and gradient of the shadow part.

you can get the final effect by applying the same method to the background graphics.
