Where does Xiajie Village belong?

Jiexiazhuang is located in Xinwei, Nanmen Village, Doumen Town, covering an area of about 53,500 square meters. It is the best preserved ancient village manor in Qing Dynasty in Zhuhai.

When it comes to Nanmen Village, people will naturally miss the past and trace back to the historical facts that have gone through vicissitudes. At the end of the Song Dynasty, the imperial court was incompetent, the regime was in jeopardy in the siege of nomadic people in the north, and the royal family made a living in other places. The descendants of Kuang Mei, the younger brother of Song Taizu Zhao Kuangyin, commonly known as Wang Wei School, moved to Hebei, Jiangxi, Guangdong and other places. Among them, Wang Wei's grandson 1 1 moved from Dachan to Da in 1403 (the first year of Yongle, the first emperor of Ming Dynasty) and became the ancestor of Zhao people in Nanmen. More than 600 years later, the descendants of Zhao family in Nanmen became a big family, and expanded to 10 natural villages with more than 5,000 people.

It is said that Zhao, a descendant of "Wang Wei School", made a fortune in dealing with Chinese herbal medicines. Later, he deeply felt that living in a large village with dense population and narrow place, which was established for nearly 400 years, was not comfortable enough, and he had the idea of moving to a different place.

He took a fancy to the beautiful scenery and tree-lined environment on the north side of the big village, and thought that there were Xiashan Mountain and rivers flowing through it, which was a treasure house for life and reproduction, and he insisted on setting up another village farm here.

Initially, three mud houses were built. Later, his clever second son Xiang Rong pushed the next village to the top.

During this period, under the firm management of Zhao, the family business flourished. 14 large houses have been built in the village, most of which have three courtyards and five courtyards. During the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, there was a Qingyun Lane between every big house here, which was also called Happy Valley Shiban Road at that time. There was a gatehouse at the intersection, which was very spectacular. On the side of Paomashi Road, there are three or four blue brick houses, five with one hall and two rooms, with the same style, a wing and a back garden, as well as a study and a gallery. The courtyard in front of the door is a greenhouse, followed by a flower field.

In this heyday, the master built a children's pool, a museum, a martial arts school, a warm pavilion, a stable and a Gao's dormitory for the whole family, and also built a lotus pond and pavilion of nearly 1,000 square meters. A stone curtain boat with a length of 13.2 m and a width of 6.6 m leads to the pavilions and flower beds on both sides, respectively, for people in the village to board the boat for the summer and watch the lotus flowers.

A 100-meter-long stone road leading to the garden is also built in Zhuangzhong, with rows of bamboos on both sides. There are all kinds of flowers and plants in the garden. Flowers are blooming, birds are singing and flowers are fragrant, and bees are coming and going.

There are three Chongjitang, with an area of 1 1,000 square meters and 72 doorways. Chongji Hall, a magnificent building similar to Foshan ancestral hall, was designed and built by Foshan people, and raw materials such as brick carvings and cornerstones were shipped from Foshan at that time.

The east, west and north of the manor are all lotus ponds and bamboos, and the south is the Huzhuang River and the four-meter-high fence. A river flows from east to west, and turns north to the descendants pond. Behind the manor, that is, the southeast, is full of large sand dunes commonly known as "Xiansha", that is, fjords. The mountain is a forest, covered with ornamental brown bamboo, and in front of it is the "Guandi Temple" where incense is flourishing.

The whole manor is not only beautiful in scenery, but also elegant and unique in layout.

In the past, Xiajie Village was not only as beautiful as the Jiafu Grand View Garden written by Cao Xueqin, but also full of talented people, adding luster to the royal family and making the world sit up and take notice.

Mao Wei, the ancestor of the manor, was shadowed by his descendants as an official; In its heyday, the "great master" Xiang Rong was good at communication and management, making the family rich; Xiang Rong's eldest son, Taigang, was awarded the position of secretary of Shandong Qing history in the Ministry of Punishment and the position of government doctor. His official career was smooth sailing. Three or four generations of Mao Wei's grandparents and grandchildren were all bureaucratic families, including one juren and thirteen Jinshi, many of whom had official positions or titles and were named Hualing or Lanling.

There is no doubt that such a prominent and rich family built such a grand manor. However, due to the bad social atmosphere in the late Qing Dynasty, the younger generation in the family failed to live up to expectations and the lack of business talents, they were left idle and never recovered. In this way, with the end of the Qing Dynasty, Jiexiazhuang, a once prosperous manor, gradually declined. The buildings here, which combine Chinese and western cultures, have been in disrepair for a long time, and the demolished buildings have long been unrecognizable. Even Chongjitang, a luxurious building, was later demolished, and Xiashan was hollowed out and sold because it was all "fairy sand" (that is, high-quality materials for making glass), and the "Guandi Temple" with its heyday of incense was also destroyed.

On August 20 1 1 year, the local government started the maintenance plan to repair the Zhuanghe River, roads, greening, drainage, sewage and other basic projects. Now, Xiajie Village attracts many historical explorers and tourists like a magnet, because it has deep roots and rich colors. (Albert)
