The Origin of Xiajiashan Village in duchang county

Xiajiashan is located in the north of the county seat, only 2 kilometers away from the county seat. It is said that more than 400 years ago, several families named Xia lived and farmed here. Later, due to the disaster of war and historical reasons, these families all moved out and fled, and this place became a wasteland. So the name Xiajiashan has been passed down to this day.

During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty (about AD 1554), the 17th ancestor Wu Shouyan moved from the county town of Wu Jiajie to Xiajiashan to live and farm. Through his efforts, the economy developed and the population doubled, and five villages in Xiajiashan were established. It has a history of more than 400 years and has been handed down for sixteen generations.

Xiajiashan wucun is under the jurisdiction of Beishan Township, with Yandi Mountain in the north, Furong Mountain in the east, Xinshe Village and Shengshui Longwu Village in the west and Hecheng Nanshan Scenic Area in duchang county in the south. Fertile land, abundant water resources and convenient transportation. It is said that granddaddy Wu Shuntu observed that this is a "golden brick basin" with a treasure trove of geomantic omen.

In this treasure land, after the hard struggle of the ancestors, the village began to develop around the pond (this pond is called the golden basin). The whole village has developed into three branches, namely Dong Tang, Tangxi and Tang Zhong. Now it has grown to nearly 400 households 1400 people, making it one of the big villages in wucun, duchang county.
