There is a five-element theory in Feng Shui, which refers to the five substances of gold, wood, water, fire and earth and their laws of movement. It takes five common substances in daily life, such as gold, wood, water, fire and earth, as the basis of all things in the universe and various natural phenomena. These five substances have different properties, such as the growth and development of wood. Fire is hot and upward. The soil is peaceful and thick. Gold has the property of killing and converging. Water is cold and humid.
Among them, fire is more active than wood, belonging to the sun, water is lower than gold, belonging to the shade, and middle earth is neutral. Because water is necessary for the growth of trees, water and wood are interdependent. In this way, a five-element cycle of wood fire, fire producing soil, soil producing gold, gold producing water and aquatic wood is formed, which is called five-element generation. In this way, matter will be produced. In case of violation, they are mutual symbols, namely, Mu Ke Tu, Tu Ke Shui, Shui Ke Huo, Huo Ke Jin and Jin Kemu, which are called five elements of symbols.
