More than 230 million years ago, Shihai was the sea of Wang Yang. A geological tectonic movement 2.5 million years ago, a large area of limestone emerged from the ground one after another, forming a vast surface stone forest in Shihai. With the passage of time, limestone on the ground is constantly washed away and melted by rain, forming funnels, stone peaks and stone pillars, and stone dams appear in caves, leaving stone curtains and various forms of ditches, grooves, stone forests, stone buds, stone caves and residual stones on the ground. There is less soil and more stones on the ground every day. The gray earth is like a churning sea. A large number of inflow caves, complete karst basins, world-class large funnels and superior karst development conditions constitute a unique "Xingwen-style" karst landform. However, in the long history, the wonders of Xingwen, like a lady hiding in a boudoir, have never been known to outsiders. It was not until the early 1980s that the mysterious veil was gradually unveiled, revealing her peerless appearance. 1985, Shihaidong Township was approved as the first batch of provincial-level scenic spots in Sichuan. In May 2002, Shihaidong Township was approved by the State Council as a national key scenic spot. In February 2004, Xingwen Shihai was approved as a national geological park by the Ministry of Land and Resources.
