Hiking at Siguniang Mountain on August 9, 2017 (the third day)
I was called in a daze early in the morning After waking up and packing up the tent and everything in a daze, we set off sleepily. Leave the camp, put on a headlamp, and head directly to the Chazigou Pass. We walked along the zigzag mountain trail, with the slope basically exceeding 60 degrees. Three and a half hours later, we finally stood on the Chazigou Pass, and the altitude rose from 3950 meters at the camp to 4750 meters.
Almost at the same time, everyone's mobile phones began to receive messages (the previous ones were all without service), and relatives and friends were asking about the Jiuzhaigou earthquake and our situation. It turns out that the shaking last night was really an earthquake. After a hasty reply, everyone was in no mood to wait for the sunrise and started the journey down the mountain.
"It is easier to go up the mountain than it is to go down the mountain." Today I have an unparalleled and profound understanding of this sentence. We walked down the mountain from the pass for a full 5 hours. There was no road at all. We walked out of the piles of rocks on the entire hillside, and small streams occasionally flowed through it, which was wet and slippery. After passing through the piles of rocks, we entered the virgin forest again, wading into streams or crossing single-plank bridges, and there were dangers everywhere. It is said that this route is one of the top ten hiking routes in China, and it should be well-deserved.
The previous afternoon I was staring at the snow-capped mountains in a daze by the creek beside the camp, and suddenly an idea came to my mind. The current Qinghai-Tibet Plateau was formed by plate movements 240 million years ago. Perhaps the snow-capped mountains and flowing water in front of me were already like this 200 million years ago. When humans passed by 5,000 or 10,000 years ago, they may have seen various creatures, perhaps including dinosaurs. When 5,000, 10,000, or 50,000 years later, humans have become passers-by, they will still be there. Compared with nature, we humans are so small and arrogant. Eventually, everything will return to dust.
What was particularly touching this day was that I received many messages of greetings in the morning. In addition to family members and friends, there were also many classmates, friends, former colleagues, and former customers whom I had not been in contact with for many years, as well as some The friends I just met all know that I am in Sichuan. Although they may not have contacted me for a long time, once they knew that I might be in danger, they sent greetings one after another. I was really touched and thanked everyone for their concern.
