Superstition: refers to believing in astrology, divination, geomantic omen, signs of life and ghosts and gods, and also refers to blind belief and worship, such as books and the ancients.
Firstly, geomantic omen is defined as superstition by Ci Hai. Secondly, from the beginning of "thinking" that the wind direction and current around the residential base or cemetery can lead to the fortune of residents or buried families, it shows that geomantic omen consciousness is subjective and has no objective basis. At the same time, there is also a word "wind" and a word "water" in this sentence, which together is feng shui, which is the definition of feng shui in Ci Hai! This misled most people in China not to believe in Feng Shui, so I said that the definition of Ci Hai was too arbitrary.
Now let's look at the reality. Generally speaking, the wind blowing in China is northwest wind in autumn and winter and southeast wind in spring and summer. If the wind direction affects people's good or bad luck, China people are basically influenced by the northwest wind and the southeast wind at the same time. Isn't it the same? But how can it be the same in reality? In the last century, Ci Hai said that Feng Shui was acceptable to everyone because everyone had just solved the problem of food and clothing, and the rich and the poor were equal. They think that Feng Shui is unreasonable, so it is logical to think that Feng Shui is superstition, and the definition of superstition is beyond doubt.
But everything keeps pace with the times, and Feng Shui is no exception. From the middle of last century to the 1980s, there was no serious pollution problem. People thought that the definition of Feng Shui in Ci Hai was correct, but later air pollution and water pollution were serious, which had a great impact on health. People also think that the definition of Feng Shui in Ci Hai is wrong. It turns out that the influence of wind direction and water flow on people is good or bad, and Feng Shui is still scientific. For example, Beijingers say that Haidian is in the northwest of Beijing, which is the upper hand, and water (the northwest wind blows from Haidian, which is the upper hand; Heyuan starts from Haidian, which is the land of water supply. Good geomantic omen, the Haidian district government thinks this is one of the superior conditions to attract investors, so there is a huge advertisement of "upper hand and water" on the avenue of Haidian. Haidian is in the northwest, and the northwest wind blows away the garbage in the air, which is the advantage of Haidian; The source of many rivers is in Haidian, and the source water quality is better than the downstream water quality, which is also the advantage of Haidian. The feng shui in Haidian is really good, but it's not just for these two reasons. It can be seen from this incident that people have now accepted the concept of Feng Shui and acknowledged the scientific nature of Feng Shui! (See the attached figure 1 2 in the photo album)
It can be seen that there is a certain deviation in the definition of Feng Shui in Ci Hai. It is too arbitrary to define Feng Shui as superstition without knowing what Feng Shui is. Since it is not clear whether Feng Shui is scientific, it is biased to define Feng Shui as superstition.
So what exactly is Feng Shui?
First of all, let's take a look at the earliest definition of Feng Shui. Before the Jin Dynasty, there was no definition of Feng Shui, but there was a saying that the land was close to the house. There was a great Feng Shui master named Guo Pu in the Jin Dynasty. He wrote a book called "Burying Classics", which said: "Burying people has spirit." Qi dissipates by the wind, and the boundary water stops. The ancients gathered together to make it last for a long time, so it was called Feng Shui. This is the origin of the name Feng Shui.
Through the study of Feng Shui theory and the accumulation of years of practice, I think the definition of Feng Shui should be like this:
Geomantic omen is a set of laws beneficial to agricultural production, which was explored by the ancient working people in China on the basis of long-term agricultural practice. According to the principle of harmony between man and nature, these laws are sublimated and applied to site selection, planning and design to determine the address, orientation, entrance, size and shape of yin house (tomb) and yang house (house) in order to achieve the purpose of wealth or peace.
