When was Liu Kuan’s tomb discovered?

The Shuangru Mountain Han Tomb is located on Shuangru Mountain in Shuangru Village, Guide Town, Changqing County, 38 kilometers away from Jinan City. It was first built in the fourth year of Tianhan reign of Emperor Wu of the Western Han Dynasty (97 BC). According to research, the tomb is the tomb of Liu Kuan, King of Jibei. Due to the serious damage to the tomb, rescue excavation was carried out from October 1995 to July 1996. The tombs were carved into the mountains to form mausoleums, which are vertical caves with stone pits and wooden coffins in the shape of "A". The caves were dug directly into the rock, with a total area of ??about 1,500 square meters. It is divided into two parts: the tomb chamber and the tomb passage, with a total length of 85 meters. The tomb is located in the southern suburbs and is basically square in shape. The total depth of the tomb is 22 meters and the area is about 100 square meters. The total stone cutting room is 8,700 square meters. More than 2,400 pieces of bronze, jade, lacquer, iron, pottery, gold cakes, carriage and horse equipment, and poultry were buried in the tomb. Among the unearthed jade articles, the jade cover and jade pillow are the most exquisite. The jade cover is composed of the forehead, forehead, cheeks, cheeks, jaws, ears and other parts. It is vivid, symmetrical, harmonious, integrated, and very unique. In addition, five carriages with double or single shafts and different structures were also buried in the tomb. Most of the carriages and horses used were gilded or decorated with gold and silver patterns such as clouds and thunder patterns, birds and animals, etc., which were very exquisite. The tomb has not been robbed and is well preserved, with rich burial objects, which enhances people's understanding of the archeology and history of the Han Dynasty.

The Shuangrushan Han Tomb was rated as one of the "Top Ten Archaeological Discoveries in the Country" in 1996. In order to protect this historic site and provide it for research and visits by all walks of life at home and abroad, the Jibei Royal Tomb Museum of the Western Han Dynasty is stepping up its construction. The museum covers a total area of ??90,000 square meters and consists of six parts: the royal tomb, the later tomb, the cemetery, the treasure hall, the royal tomb square, and the museum supporting buildings. The construction of the Jibei Royal Tombs Museum will provide a good environment for further academic investigation and research.
