Xuzhou Chuwang Tomb

There are two tombs in the tomb of the King of Chu in Nandongshan. There is an wing in the middle of the tunnel connecting Tomb No.1 and Tomb No.2, and the tomb door is dug halfway up the mountain. The total length of the open-air tomb is 26.4 meters, and the northern end of the tomb is 1. 1 meter, up to 7.5 meters. People here, see the blue sky, magnificent. Inside the tomb is a straight and narrow tunnel, with a total length of 48.2m, a width of 1. 1.0m and a height of1.75m to1.85m. Why is the floor behind the tunnel high and the front low? Xia, director of the Cultural Relics Management Office of the Cultural Bureau, told the reporter that the ancient people cut the tomb into two grades, and the water in the tomb would naturally flow out. This layout and design is mainly for the convenience of drainage.

Tomb No.1 has five burial chambers. Go through the front room and enter the most eye-catching back room, where the coffin is placed. This room is 9.4 meters long and 6.5 meters wide. There is an Optimus Prime in the south of the middle of Tomb No.1. The so-called Optimus Prime is the stone pillar that supports the tomb. This Optimus Prime is basically square, with a length of 1.2 m, a width of 1. 1 m and a height of1.75 m. The upper part of the column is cut into a parabola shape at the top of the tomb, and the shape is very beautiful.

Tomb No.2 is 8 meters away from Tomb No.1, although it is connected with Tomb No.1, but the scale is much smaller. It is the main room of Tomb No.2, with a length of 4.15m, a width of 4.7m, a height of1.8m around and a height of 3.33m in the center of the room. In this way, this tomb is like a hemisphere with a typical dome-shaped roof, which is the only example seen in the tomb of the king of Chu in Xuzhou area. According to Director Xia, this dome tomb may be the earliest dome tomb used in China. Another thing that surprises everyone is that the tomb of the king of Chu facing south should be in the west and the tomb of the queen in the east. I don't know why this tomb is just the opposite. Director Xia said that this is an exception and a mystery.

The two tombs in Nandongshan have a total area of more than 400 square meters, of which the tunnel area accounts for about half, and the No.1 tomb is 80 meters long, which is the longest one among the tombs of King Chu in Xuzhou. However, the tomb builder may not have thought that the tomb with the longest age and the best anti-theft performance is the earliest and most thorough tomb of the King of Chu. According to documents, these two tombs were looted as early as the Ming Dynasty.
