Tiangongyuan Fengshui Cultural Scenic Area
Tiangongyuan, a provincial cultural relic protection unit, is located in Tiangong Township, 20 kilometers south of Langzhong City. Because of the profound astronomical culture in Langzhong, astronomers Yuan Tiangang and Li Chunfeng of the Tang Dynasty came to Langzhong to settle down in their later years. They chose a place to observe the sky here, wrote books, and were buried here after their deaths. The Tiangong Courtyard was built in their memory. The original buildings of Tiangongyuan include Wanniantai, Niuwang Pavilion, Main Hall, Guanyin Hall and other buildings. They were first built in the Tang Dynasty and rebuilt in the third year of Tomorrow Shun (1459). The main hall has a gable-style roof with double eaves and a platform-beam roof truss. It is made of thick materials, with a width of five bays of 19.4 meters and a depth of five bays of 19.3 meters. Guanyin Hall is three rooms wide and three rooms deep. It is a building that combines stacked beams and pierced beam structures. The two halls are now well preserved, covering an area of ??6 acres and a construction area of ??684 square meters. Tiangong Township is named after Tiangongyuan.
Yuan and Li were good friends in astronomy, and their tombs were located next to each other after their deaths. Li Chunfeng's tomb is on Wulitai Mountain. In front of the tomb is the stele "Tomb of Li Chunfeng, Taishi Ling of the Tang Dynasty" and the Chunfeng Temple. Yuan Tiangang's tomb is halfway up Guanjia Mountain, facing south and facing the Tiangong Courtyard, far across from Li Chunfeng's tomb.
Yuan Tiangang was an official in the Huoshan Order, and Li Chunfeng was the Taishi Order. The two were both astronomers and Feng Shui experts. The reason why they chose to settle in Tiangongyuan is that it is said that the place is shaped like a crown with nine mountains surrounding it, which is called "Nine Dragons Holding the Saint". Guanjia Mountain, where Yuan Tiangang's tomb is buried, is said to resemble a unicorn, and the round hill in front is the sun. The terrain is called "Qilin running towards the sun". The place where Li Chunfeng's tomb is located is a round hill, like a pearl, and the mountains on both sides resemble two flying dragons. This terrain is called "Two Dragons Playing with Pearls".
