Why are the north and south gates of Beijing not on the same line?

The north and south gates are not on the same line, which is to confuse the inner city with the outer gate. The gates of Beijing are basically symmetrical.

The gates of Beijing are divided into nine inner cities, seven outer cities and four imperial cities. There is a saying in the old city of Beijing that there are nine inner cities, seven outer cities and four imperial cities, which refers to nine inner cities, seven outer cities and four imperial cities.

Nine inner city gates: Zhengyangmen, Chongwenmen, Xuanwu Gate, Chaoyangmen, Fuchengmen, Dongzhimen, Xizhimen, Andingmen and Deshengmen.

There are seven gates in the outer city: Yongdingmen, Zuo 'anmen, You 'anmen, Guangqumen, Guang 'anmen, Dongbianmen and Xibianmen.

There are four gates in the Imperial City: Tiananmen, Di 'anmen, Dong 'anmen and Xi 'an.
