During the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, Qin Shangyang presided over the political reform with the support of Qin Xiaogong. At that time, at a time of frequent wars and panic, in order to establish prestige and promote reform, Shang Yang ordered a 30-foot-long wood to be erected outside the south gate of the capital, and made a promise in public: who can move this wood to the north gate and reward twelve taels of silver.
None of the onlookers believe that such an easy thing can get such a high reward, so no one is willing to try. So Shang Yang raised the reward to 50 gold. Under the four rewards, there must be brave people. Finally someone stepped forward and carried the wood to the north gate. Shang Yang immediately rewarded him with fifty gold. Shang Yang's move established prestige in the hearts of the people, and Shang Yang's next reform was quickly popularized in Qin State.
The new law made the State of Qin stronger and eventually unified China.
2. The story of Lenin breaking a vase
Once my mother took Lenin to my aunt's house as a guest. Little Lenin broke a vase in his aunt's house. So the aunt asked the children, "Who broke the vase?" Lenin, afraid of being criticized by menstruation, followed the other children and said, "Not me!" But my mother guessed that the vase was broken by naughty little Lenin, because the child was naughty and similar things often happened at home.
But Lenin always took the initiative to admit his mistakes and never lied. She pretended to believe what her son said and never mentioned it. But to tell my son about virtue story, who is honest and trustworthy, waiting for him to admit it voluntarily.
One day, Lenin burst into tears when his mother was telling a story, and told her painfully, "I cheated my menstruation. I said I didn't break the vase, but I did. " Hearing that the child was ashamed, the mother patiently comforted him and told him that she would forgive him as long as she wrote to her aunt to apologize.
So Lenin got up at once and, with the help of his mother, wrote to his aunt to apologize. From then on, Lenin never lied again, and when he grew up, he won the support of the people through the valuable quality of honesty.
3. Mendelssohn's honesty
Mendelssohn is a famous German composer.
Once, Queen Victoria of England held a grand reception in Buckingham Palace for Mendelssohn, who was visiting Britain, to welcome the famous composer. When Mendelssohn finished playing Ital Z under his own name, the queen praised it even more, saying, "This piece alone can prove that you are a genius."
Mendelssohn didn't laugh, but calmly said to the queen, "No, that's my sister's work."
It turns out that her sister, Fenia, is also a composer with high musical attainments. She wrote this article, but several brothers disagreed with a woman's name and agreed to publish it under the name of Mendelssohn. Although Mendelssohn is famous at home and abroad, his artistic talent is outstanding, but he does not steal the beauty of others, greedy for the merits of others, and shows high quality and cultivation.
4. Establishment of Yan Shu's reputation.
Yan Shu, a famous writer and politician in the Northern Song Dynasty, was recommended by local officials as a "prodigy" when he was 0/4 years old. He could have won the official position without taking part in the imperial examination, but he did not do so, but resolutely took the exam. As it happens, the topic of that exam was done by him and directed by several famous teachers.
In this way, he stood out from more than 1000 candidates with no effort and was praised by the emperor. However, Yan Shu was not complacent. On the contrary, when he was interviewed by the emperor for the second time, he told the emperor the truth and asked to test him in class on another topic. After discussing with the ministers, the emperor proposed a difficult topic for Yan Shu to write in class. As a result, his article was praised by the emperor.
When Yan Shu takes office, the world is at peace. Therefore, Beijing officials, large and small, often go to the suburbs or hold various banquets in restaurants and teahouses in the city. Yan Shu was poor and had no money to go out to eat, drink and have fun, so she had to read and write articles with her brothers at home. One day, Zhenzong promoted Yan Shu as the official of the East Palace who assisted the prince in his studies.
Ministers were surprised and didn't understand why Zhenzong made such a decision. Zhenzong said: "Recently, ministers often play and often hold banquets. Only Yan Shu, who is self-respecting and cautious, is the right candidate for the East Palace official. " Yan Shu thanked him and said, "I am actually a person who likes to play and eat, but my family is poor." If I had money, I would have taken part in the banquet tour. "
These two things made Yan Shu establish prestige in front of ministers, and Song Zhenzong trusted him more.
5. Talk about honesty.
According to Yuquanzi, when Lv Yuan was appointed as the capital of Du Dong, a Chu Shi often played chess with him. Once, two people were fighting, and suddenly the official document came. Lv Yuanying had to leave the chessboard and go to the case-solving to read the official documents. The chess player took the opportunity to secretly move a chess piece and finally defeated Lu Yuanying. In fact, Lu Yuanying has seen that he moved the chess pieces, but he doesn't make any sense.
The next day, Lv Yuan asked the players to make a living elsewhere. Others don't know why he was fired, and he himself doesn't know why he was fired. When he left, Lv Yuan also presented money and things.
Lv Yuanying dismissed the chess player because he found his dishonesty in the way a chess player moves and a deceptive little gesture. Honesty is also called sincerity and trustworthiness. Honesty is an intangible asset of life and an important part of ideology and morality. "People can't stand without faith", people who are dishonest can't be good people, and it's hard to live. It is very dangerous and terrible to associate with dishonest people.
Moving chess pieces seems trivial and doesn't seem to be worth taking seriously. But small things are not small, and small things can see big things. Honesty is a virtue and a valuable kindness; But dishonesty is a kind of evil virtue, and the root of countless misfortunes and disasters in the world is bred and triggered by evil virtue. There is no insurmountable gap between small and big.
