On April 16, 2007, with the approval of the Provincial Forestry Bureau, the Daomaguan Provincial Forest Park in Tangxian County was approved to be established. This is the second provincial forest park in this county after damao mountain.
Daomaguan, also known as Hongshangguan, Tieguan and Tangguan, is located in Daomaguan Township, northwest of Tang County, Baoding City, with Baishishan National Geopark in the north and damao mountain National Forest Park in the south. Forest Park is adjacent to the provincial highway from Baoding to Laiyuan, which is 0/00km away from Baoding and 2 10/0km away from Shijiazhuang. The two expressways under construction, Zhangshi and Fu Bao, both pass through Tangxian County, with exits and convenient transportation.
Maguan has a history of over 600 years. Named after "the mountain road is steep and the horse falls for it". With Juyongguan and Zijingguan, it is also called China's "three internal customs". There is a saying that "the horse will fall before the horse passes, and the three passes will be strange." It used to be an important gateway to defend the capital and a battleground for military strategists in past dynasties. It is famous for Yang Liulang, a famous soldier in the Northern Song Dynasty.
Maguan Forest Park, with a total area of 3,520 hectares and a forest coverage rate of 63%, was developed in 2004 with the theme of "Peak, Rock, Water and Pass" and officially opened to tourists in September 2005. The park consists of two scenic spots, Dashiyu and Xiushuiyu. There are dangerous peaks, shizhai, waterfalls and streams in the scenic area, especially the 1500 Maple King, the "First Waterfall in South Beijing" with a drop of 76 meters and the Lover Valley.
