35km northeast of Chengguan in Jixian County, there is a rare secondary forest nature reserve in Baxian Mountain in North China, with a total area of 1,49.3 hectares, most of which are natural secondary forests, with a forest coverage rate of over 9%. Here, the peaks are towering, the trees are dense, the mountains are deep and the roads are dangerous. It was once a forbidden place for Feng Shui in the Qing Dongling. There are 19 peaks over 9 meters.
Legend has it that the Eight Immortals crossed the sea and were attracted by the beautiful scenery of the deep jungle valley, the jade barrier and the clear stream, and the waves of the forest. They changed to drink and rest on a boulder on the hillside. This square stone was called the Eight Immortals Table, hence the name of this mountain, and later changed to the Eight Immortals Mountain.
There are not only more than 362 kinds of plants in the nature reserve, but also a treasure house of natural Chinese herbal medicines, with more than 2 kinds of Chinese herbal medicines.
The ecological environment around Baxian Mountain is really unique, and it is called the Forest Wildlife Park. For experts and researchers, this is a natural museum and a natural laboratory. For urbanites, it is an excellent place to return to nature, spend the summer, recuperate and go sightseeing.
