An ancient tomb of the Qing Dynasty was unearthed in Hunan. Just halfway through the excavation, what did the experts find?

There is an old saying in China: When a flood rushes into the Dragon King Temple, one family denies the other. This proverb is often used in the process of some family members fighting each other. However, such proverbs can be applied to archaeology. On one occasion, an ancient tomb of the Qing Dynasty was discovered in Hunan. However, in the process of studying and excavating this ancient tomb, an archaeologist, that is, the captain of the archaeological team, slowly realized in the middle of the study: this is my ancestral grave! Therefore, some people later described this story as "the flood washed away the Longwang Temple".

20 16 a construction team in Changsha, Hunan province, according to the conventional construction, invited some excavators to break the soil layer on the surface because of the expansion of the school. However, at that time, the construction team slowly discovered that there was a hard layer on the surface, which seemed to be sealed. Even if people want to dig with excavators, it is very difficult.

Finally, after manual cleaning, it was found that there was a building structure similar to an ancient tomb underground. Therefore, the captain of the construction team quickly called the relevant institutions, and finally invited some experts from the Cultural Relics Bureau to identify them. On August 26th, Hunan archaeologists went to this site for investigation.

However, the local cultural relics bureau sent an archaeological team, which is a very systematic archaeological organization. There are not only team members, but also each team member is responsible for different fields. The expert who leads the team is called Wang Wenyuan. At first, Mr. Wang Wenyuan came to visit with confidence with his own archaeological team. He intended to get some good news here, but slowly he found that things seemed to be different from his original plan.

Because in 20 17, Mr. Wang Wenyuan was determined to be related to this ancient tomb. 20 16, 16 February, the archaeologists at that time wanted to open the ancient tomb and study the funerary objects inside under the condition of setting some protective measures for the ancient tomb. However, some details derived from the outside world have led archaeologists to speculate that this is an ancient tomb of the Qing Dynasty, and according to its identity, it should belong to the first-class minister in the Kangxi period. After investigation and appraisal, the owner of the tomb should be Wang.

There is a little doubt about this news in front of Captain Wang Wenyuan. If the identity of the owner of an ancient tomb is really related to his family culture, should we dig it up in the face of his immediate ancestors as descendants? So I quickly called the elders at home, and finally found out that there really was a big official named Wang on his ancestors, and it was really recorded in the genealogy.

According to the Qing History Draft, Wang also enjoyed a high reputation in the official history records, saying that Wang became a scholar in Kangxi 160 1 year. He was not only an official born under the imperial examination system, but also shined brilliantly throughout the Qing dynasty. However, the descendants of the Wang family did not inherit the official mantle of the Qing Dynasty, so the descendants of Wang slowly left Changsha and other places in Hunan and developed other industries.

20 17 1 month, just after New Year's Day, Wang Wenyuan made up his mind to continue excavating the ancient tomb. And hand over some cultural relics unearthed in the ancient tomb to the state. However, in March, through a series of policies, Wang Wenyuan applied to the state for the documents of provincial key cultural relics protection units of this ancient tomb. Therefore, from the archaeological point of view, Wang Wenyuan's practice is conducive to the process of China's study of history, and as an individual, it also plays a role in protecting the peace of ancestors.
