South Shaolin Temple is located in Jiulian Mountain Village, Xitianwei Town, Licheng District, Putian City, Fujian Province, about 17 km away from the urban area.
South Shaolin Temple, formerly known as Linquan Temple, was built in the Yongding period of the Southern Dynasty (A.D. 577). In the early years of the Tang Dynasty, thirteen stick monks saved the Tang Priest.
