Huizhou Three Sculptures is a kind of local traditional carving art, which refers to the area of one mansion and six counties in ancient Huizhou (now yi county, Shexian, Qimen, Xiuning, Taiping, Jixi and Wuyuan counties in Jiangxi Province).
2. There are three kinds of local traditional carving techniques: wood carving, stone carving and brick carving with Huizhou style. These three sculptures have a long history and have been handed down from generation to generation. They have a complete technological process and enjoy a high reputation at home and abroad. Their carving skills and artistic value fully reflect the intelligence and artistic creativity of the working people in ancient China.
Second, wood carving
1, Huizhou mountainous area is rich in wood, and the buildings are mostly brick, wood and stone structures, especially the use of wood, which has become a place for woodcarving artists to display their talents. Huizhou woodcarving, as the decoration of old buildings and household appliances, covers urban and rural areas, and its wide distribution is rare in China. Screen, window frame, pillars in the room, bed, table, chair, desk, daily stationery.
2, you can see the elegance of wood carving, and there are almost no villages. Huizhou woodcarving has a wide range of themes, including figures, landscapes, flowers, animals, insects and fish, cloud heads, palindromes, eight-treasure Bo Gu, tin couplets and various auspicious patterns. Huizhou wood carving is based on the needs and possibilities of building objects, using round carving, relief carving, through carving and other forms of expression.
Third, stone carving.
1. Stone carvings are widely distributed in urban and rural areas of Huizhou. They are mainly used for the decoration of pillars, door walls, archways and graves of temple houses. They belong to the art of relief and round carving and enjoy a high reputation. The theme of Huizhou stone carving is limited by the carving materials themselves, and it is not as complicated as wood carving and brick carving. There are mainly animal and plant images, Bo Gu patterns, calligraphy and so on, but there are relatively few stories about people and mountains and waters.
2. In terms of carving style, the relief is mainly shallow through carving and flat carving, and the trend of round carving is obvious. The knife method is refined in simplicity and elegance, which is not as delicate and complicated as wood carving and brick carving in Qing Dynasty.
