Chaohu Lake is bigger than Taiping Lake. Chaohu Lake is located in the middle of Anhui Province, Hefei City, which is connected with Huaihe River. It is 55 kilometers long from east to west and 22 kilometers wide from north to south, with a perennial water area of about 760 square kilometers. It is one of the five largest freshwater lakes in China, just like a mirror embedded in the land of Jianghuai, and is known as the "800-mile lake sky". It is the main area of Chaohu National Scenic Area and an important regional ecological foundation of world-class urban agglomerations in the Yangtze River Delta. Taiping Lake is 48 kilometers long from east to west, 6 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total area of 88 square kilometers at its narrowest point of only 150 meters.
