There is a huge mound near Wulibei in the eastern suburb of Changsha. According to local legend, it is the tomb of Ma Yin, the founder of Southern Chu during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, so it is also called "Mawangdui". In the eyes of the ancients, this Mawangdui may be a treasure trove of geomantic omen, not only burying the cemetery of the monarch of Southern Chu, but also two other huge ancient tombs. It is said that these two ancient tombs were buried in Cheng, the mother of Changsha King in Tang Dynasty and Han Dynasty respectively, so they were also called "double female tombs" by local people.
In the 1970s, an ancient tomb of the Western Han Dynasty was inadvertently excavated when the local civil air defense project was excavated. With the intervention of archaeological experts from Hunan Museum, a huge ancient tomb emerged in front of people. There are countless precious cultural relics buried in the tomb, and only dozens of national treasures have been unearthed. This ancient tomb is the famous Mawangdui Han Tomb. Besides precious plain gauze clothes and various bamboo slips, the discovery of Mawangdui's female corpse shocked archaeologists the most.
From 1972 to 1974, archaeologists excavated Mawangdui ancient tomb three times. Appraised by archaeological experts, Mawangdui Han Tomb is the family cemetery of Changsha Prime Minister and Hou Licang in the early Western Han Dynasty. There are three tombs in Yi * * *, among which the owner of Tomb No.2 is Li Cang himself, whose tomb was stolen in the Tang Dynasty. The name of Mawangdui's female corpse has always been called "Mrs. Xin Zhui". It is so called because a seal was unearthed in the tomb, on which the words "concubine's heart is chasing" were written in Yin style, and the last word was unrecognizable by experts. Experts interpreted the recognizable words on the seal as "Xin Zhui", and the female corpse of Mawangdui was named "Mrs. Xin Zhui", a title that has continued to this day.
The interpretation of seal script unearthed from Mawangdui Tomb No.1 was made in 1970s and 1980s. With more and more unearthed cultural relics, the ability of experts to interpret ancient Chinese characters has also made some progress. In the field of archaeology, many archaeologists have put forward new opinions on the interpretation of the seal script characters of Mawangdui No.1 Tomb, arguing that the characters engraved on it are not "concubine Xin Zhui".
Mawangdui tomb has been excavated for decades. Is it that Mrs. Xin Zhui, who has been calling for 48 years, is called by the wrong name? In this regard, archaeologists believe that she should be called "Mrs. Avoidance". Experts from the Research Center for Unearthed Documents and Ancient Chinese Characters of Fudan University found that the recognizable words on the seal of Tomb No.1 of Mawangdui Han Tomb were not "I pursue my heart" but "I avoid it", and "I pursue my heart" was a misunderstanding.
The research of cultural relics experts in Fudan University not only analyzed the seal shape, but also compared it with other seals unearthed in the same period. Combined with the reading habit from right to left in Han Dynasty, the conclusion of "avoiding concubines" was drawn. So, is Mrs. Mawangdui really going to be renamed "Mrs. Avoidance"? If Mrs. Xin Zhui misread it, wouldn't it be called wrong for decades?
According to experts, it makes sense to interpret it as "avoiding concubines". However, there is no unified view in the cultural relics circle on whether the words on the seal are "my heart is chasing" or "my jealousy". Although many experts believe that it should be interpreted as "avoiding concubines", but in the attitude of being responsible for cultural relics, it has not been officially corrected. Because if you really want to correct it, it is a bit too serious to say three words or two wrong words.
