There are so many temples in Yushu, why did there still be an earthquake?

Why do people who practice Buddhism suffer disasters? Author: Rooted Living Buddha We must first understand the source of "natural disasters". They are not punished by God, nor by Almighty God, nor by Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, but by Karma, the cause of natural disasters is the bad karma created in the past life. Destiny means destroying the natural environment, killing animals, digging out treasures underneath, changing waterways, destroying natural feng shui, and the fierceness of people's hearts. Only when they are combined can there be natural disasters and man-made disasters. . Natural and man-made disasters are a punishment from nature, which no one can change or save. Because karma and retribution are the laws of nature, and the Buddha and the Almighty God cannot change the laws of nature. This is natural. Xinrao Miwo once said: "No matter how powerful the Buddha is, he cannot cover up the retribution of karma." This is the Buddha's fair education to mankind. People are advised to abide by karma, good will be rewarded with good and evil will be punished with evil. Because natural disasters and natural disasters are environmental disasters, this is recorded in Buddhist scriptures. Each of the ten evil karma has four kinds of consequences: strange fruit, equal flow fruit, increased fruit, and scholarly fruit. . Among them, the fruit of improvement is matured in the external environment. For example, those who commit evil acts of killing are reincarnated in dangerous places such as deep valleys, wars, earthquakes, or fires, etc.; those who commit evil acts of theft are reincarnated in places where crops suffer from drought, hail, or trees. Where there are frequent famines such as barrenness; where evildoers are reborn in cesspits, mud, floods, snowstorms, and other unpleasant places; where evildoers who lie are reborn in places where wealth is unstable, robbers, floods, terror, and fear Those who make evil words are reincarnated in places where it is difficult to walk; those who make evil words are reincarnated in places where it is difficult to walk, such as cliffs, cracks in the ground, deep valleys, wind disasters, cross-borders, etc.; those who make evil words are reincarnated in places where there are too many rocks, piles of rocks, rolling rocks, overgrown thorns, and floods and other unpleasant places; those who make lies and evil deeds are reincarnated in places where the crops are fruitless, the seasons are reversed, and the climate is unstable; those who use greed and evil deeds are reincarnated in places where the crops are barren, the land is bad, and there is a lot of suffering; those who use evil intentions are reincarnated The karma is reborn in a place where there is constant fear and a lot of harm; the bad karma of wrong views is reborn in a place where there is no wealth, no relatives and friends, and no one to rely on. People who made karma in the past were born in places with harsh environments and disasters in this life. Therefore, it is normal for poor and backward places to have many disasters. Because they were born in such a harsh environment, the fruits of their bad karma accumulated in past lives have matured. This is a natural disaster that cannot be avoided. Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are very kind and compassionate. When they save sentient beings, they do not distinguish between good and bad people, good and bad people, believers and unbelievers. They save all sentient beings, because all sentient beings in front of them are equal. There is no direct relationship between Buddhas and Bodhisattvas saving sentient beings and natural disasters. This is because the Buddhas have never said: "All living beings have created karma, and I can save you." Nor have they said, "All living beings have created karma, and I can save you from your suffering." Instead, they have said: "The karma you have created will be saved by me." Take it upon yourself, I can't avoid your karma, I can only point out ways to eliminate karma and save yourself." There is no record of this ability of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in any Buddhist scriptures. Buddhas and Bodhisattvas have never acknowledged themselves as saviors or omnipotent powers. So how do Buddhas save sentient beings? Buddhas and Bodhisattvas use their great wisdom to guide you on the right path, use their compassion to support you, explain special wisdom methods, and teach them to save all living beings. The wisdom and compassion of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas mainly depends on whether sentient beings are willing to accept it. If sentient beings are unwilling to accept it, the Buddha has nothing to do. The Buddha once said: "My Dharma power cannot compare with the karma of sentient beings, and sentient beings are unwilling to accept my wisdom." , unable to penetrate into their hearts. "It's like you are hiding in a dark cave, no matter how bright or warm the sun is, it can't shine on you. We cannot regard Buddhas and Bodhisattvas as omnipotent saviors. In fact, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are not omnipotent saviors. Buddhas are our teachers; Bodhisattvas are our role models. We learn wisdom from Buddhas and develop compassion from Bodhisattvas. We worship Buddhas as teachers and seniors, not as gods. If all living beings believe in Buddhism, practice according to Buddhism, learn Bodhisattva's bodhicitta, and practice compassion, they can be completely liberated from the sea of ??samsara and naturally receive the warmth of Buddha's light. At that time, not to mention a family, everything will be auspicious! You asked: "Why is there so many temples in Yushu and so many people chanting sutras, but there was still an earthquake? Why?" I will answer it in three ways: First, the Buddhist scriptures say: "The strangely ripe fruit of karma , the Buddha is not a cover-up.

"That is to say, the karma we accumulated in the past life and the present life will naturally be repaid when time matures. This retribution is not to be said that ordinary people can cover up and change it. All Tathagata Buddhas in the world can't cover up and change it together. Earthquakes and other natural and man-made disasters are the consequences of evil deeds, which cannot be changed. It is not that Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are unmerciful, nor are they unwisdom, because the law of cause and effect is the law of nature, and no one can break the law of nature. Eliminate karma. After eliminating karma, you will not have natural disasters. The difference between eliminating karma and not eliminating karma is that the same place will suffer the same disaster. People who have not eliminated karma will suffer severe disasters and may lose their lives. People who eliminate karma may lose their lives. Not to mention the loss of life, not even any injuries. This is very obvious. Secondly, Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are not saviors. If Buddhas and Bodhisattvas have such rights, they will never let sentient beings suffer natural and man-made disasters, because Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are very compassionate. Therefore, no one can stop natural disasters. Only when people eliminate evil and do good deeds, protect the environment, harmonize their homes, and do good things can they change the natural disasters. There are not many temples and there are not so many people chanting sutras. The earthquake this time was more serious than now, and more people may have died. I personally think that the Yushu earthquake caused great damage. It also destroyed the temples and lost the monks. Life is a kind of advice. There will be more and more disasters in the future. If you don’t eliminate bad karma, don’t accumulate virtue and do good, don’t protect the environment, don’t harmonize your home, and don’t do good deeds, there will be more natural disasters. At that time, no one will be able to save you. Many people think that Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are unable to protect themselves, so how can they protect others? Isn’t it foolish and superstitious to pray to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas? , wouldn’t it be nirvana when it’s time? The temple is not an eternal thing, but an impermanent substance. This is also the truth that Buddhas often remind everyone that “all actions are impermanent”. It is normal, but the cause of death is different. It is due to the combination of one's past karma and the conditions created in this life, and death due to the dispersion of causes and conditions. This is the Buddha's way. All things must undergo the first formation, the second existence, and the third. The third is destruction, and the fourth is becoming emptiness. Yes. So everyone will eventually die, but how they die depends on the reasons for doing things in the past life and this life. The reasons for death are different. Human life is not given by Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, nor is it given by the omnipotent God in mythology. It is our own creation and our own karma. Therefore, our death is not determined by Buddhas, Bodhisattvas and the Almighty God, but is determined by our own karma. Good people will die in a good way, and evil people will die in an evil way. Death in a disaster is not necessarily an evil way to die, and dying in bed is not necessarily a good way to die. Some truly good people die while rescuing others from disasters. Many people can't figure out why good people die like this. It is not surprising at all that such a kind person owed others a life in the past and saved others in this life to repay the debt. Although he lost his life, he will be liberated and reborn in the paradise world. It is more natural for a bad person to die while lying on the bed. In the eyes of ordinary people, he enjoys it. But after he closes his eyes, debtors will hunt him down. In fear, he will fall into hell, or a hungry ghost, or Become a beast and be severely punished. It’s not that good people don’t get good things and bad people don’t get bad things. It’s just that the time hasn’t come yet, and there will be retribution when the time comes. A person can only bear the consequences of the good and evil deeds he or she does, and cannot be replaced or changed by others, including those who die in disasters. Finally, I ask everyone, we living people, to contribute money and strength to the people in the disaster area, and to pray for salvation for those who died in the disaster area. This is very important, and this is also good. I hope that everyone will "disaster in one place, and support from all directions." If you don’t have the ability, I hope you can pray for those who lost their lives in the disaster area to be reborn in the Paradise of Paradise, and recite the eight-character mantra (Om Makhi Mi Ye Ga Le Du) and other mantras of Buddha and Bodhisattva. At the same time, I hope the people in the disaster area will be strong! Our motherland is prosperous! May the people live and work in peace and contentment! May the Shanghai World Expo be a complete success! The greatest happiness is to believe in Buddhism. The best health care is to worship Buddha. The deepest longing is to recite Buddha. The most precious wealth is the most precious fate to learn Buddhism. The most beautiful feeling is to let go. The most congenial understanding is to recite Buddha's name together. The most sincere greeting is to say to you - Namo Amitabha!!!
