The Peace Gate was built in 1926, between Zhengyang Gate and Xuanwu Gate. In the early years of the Republic of China, it was very troublesome for people to detour from North Xinhua Street to South Xinhua Street to Xuanwumen to visit the factory. So someone suggested opening a hole between Zhengyang Gate and Xuanwu Gate to facilitate access. This proposal was strongly opposed by foreign businessmen in Qianmen, who thought it would reduce the number of people passing through Zhengyangmen, thus affecting their business. Even invited Mr. Feng Shui, falsely claiming that opening the city gate would reveal the king's anger, so the proposal fell through. It was not until the "Beijing coup" that Feng Yuxiang ordered the door to be opened and named it "Peace Gate". The gate is very simple, but it makes the deserted North Xinhua Street lively.
Shortly after the completion of the Peace Gate, Feng warlord Zhang moved the capital to Beijing and renamed the Peace Gate Xinghua Gate. Later, Zhang heard that the daughter of Li Dazhao who was killed by him was named. In order to avoid stroke, he changed the name of "Peace Gate".
