On the first day of the battle between Guan Yu and Huang Zhong, the two sides fought a hundred rounds, regardless of the outcome. The next day, the two sides fought for fifty or sixty rounds, and Guan Yu cheated and lost in an attempt to win by dragging his knife. Who knows that Huang slipped and fell to the ground. Guan Yu was brave and did not take advantage of people's danger to let Huang Zhong go.
On the third day, Huang Zhong and Guan Yu fought less than 30 times, and he cheated and defeated Guan Yu with his own bow and arrow skills. But because of Guan Yu's loyalty, Huang Zhong pulled the bowstring twice, only shot the third time, and shot an arrow at the root of Guan Yu's tassel, thus repaying his love for yesterday. Later, Han Xuan suspected that Huang Zhong and Guan Yu were selfish and wanted to kill Huang Zhong. Killed by Wei Yan's soldiers and civilians who aroused public anger, he saved Huang Zhong and surrendered to Guan Yu.
Seeing this chapter, we feel the breath of Huang Zhong and Guan Yu's heroes cherishing each other. Both of them are aboveboard and courageous people. After Huang Zhong became an official under Liu Bei, he was appreciated and reused by Liu Bei. When Liu Bei entered Sichuan for the first time, he only brought two generals, Huang Zhong and Wei Yan, which showed his heavy reliance on Huang Zhong.
In the next battle, Huang Zhong failed to live up to Liu Bei's trust. After being buried in obscurity for many years, Huang Zhong, who is old, once again shines with superman's fighting power. He performed well in the battle of giving up and made great achievements for Liu Bei many times.
Huang Zhong's greatest achievement was the battle in Hanzhong. In this campaign, Huang Zhong personally went into battle and beheaded Cao Caopai's general Xia in Hanzhong. Xia is one of Cao Cao's most trusted generals, and his death caused an irreparable blow to Cao Cao. This victory made Cao Cao's war in Hanzhong worse, and he finally had to quit Hanzhong.
After capturing Hanzhong, Liu Bei had a solid base. He can attack western Shu, retreat and defend. Because of Huang Zhong's great contribution to the establishment of the Shu-Han regime, he was promoted to the king of Hanzhong by Liu Bei and appointed as the post-general.
However, the title given by Huang attracted Guan Yu's dissatisfaction. In the history books:
The first Lord was the King of Hanzhong. He sent a poem to worship Guan Yu as a former general, and heard that Huang Zhong was a post-general. I got angry and said, Brave people will never be listed with veterans! ? Refuse to be worshipped.
Then, since Guan Yu and Huang Zhong have played against each other, they know Huang Zhong's martial arts and personality very well. In battle. Both of them are attracted by each other's masculinity, which leads to appreciate each other's feelings. What's more, Huang Zhong also made a contribution to slaying the other side's Lord Xia on the battlefield. Throughout the Shu army, Huang Zhong made this achievement. Then, why did Guan Yu complain that Huang Zhong was made a post-general?
First, Guan Yu's dissatisfaction with Huang Zhong's offside promotion.
Guan Yu was deeply influenced by Chunqiu. In his thought, the order of monarch and minister is very strict. After joining Liu Bei's camp, since Liu Bei and I have the title of monarch and minister, we will never give up and stick to it. Even after Cao Cao tried to woo him, he was determined to win.
Guan Yu's view on this matter is the same. He believes that not only merit, but also qualifications and fame should be considered. Although this is suspected of seniority, as an old subordinate who fought with Liu Bei, it is understandable to have this idea.
In terms of qualifications, Huang Zhong was just a general who joined after Battle of Red Cliffs. In terms of fame, Huang Zhong was not well-known and was unknown before joining Liu Bei's camp. In this way, he was raised above most old people, which made Guan Yu feel dissatisfied. Zhuge Liang also anticipated this when he rewarded Huang Zhongshi. In Historical Records, he reminded Liu Bei of Guan Yu's attitude.
At that age, my predecessor was Wang Hanzhong. I want to use loyalty as a post-general. Zhuge Liang said that my predecessor said: The reputation of loyalty has nothing to do with customs, but also with Ma Zhilun. Now they are in the same column. The horse and Zhang are close at hand, and seeing is believing, which is still a metaphor; Guan Yao will be unhappy when he hears this, and he will be so sad! ? The late Lord said: I should solve it myself. ? So he and Yu's position were equal, and he was named as the Hou of Shanhaiguan Pass.
From Zhuge Liang's persuasion, we can see the reasons why Guan Yu was dissatisfied. That is the question of Huang Zhong's fame. Guan Yu believes that Huang Zhong is dissatisfied because of his qualifications, fame and other aspects.
Second, Guan Yu was dissatisfied with Zhao Yun's failure to be promoted.
If Zhuge Liang and Guan Yu have the same attitude, there is still a tacit understanding. That is, neither of them thinks that Huang Zhong should be an important general, and the post of the next general should be held by a more suitable person.
Who is this man? If we consider the words of Zhuge Liang and Guan Yu and the Biography of the Three Kingdoms, we can know a little.
Zhuge Liang's reason for opposing Huang Zhong as a post-general is his lack of fame. But as far as fame is concerned, how many people in the Shu army can be as famous as Guan Yu and Ma Chao? Then, Zhao Yun is the only military commander whose fame can surpass that of Huang Zhong.
As far as qualifications are concerned, Zhao Yun has long followed Liu Bei. In terms of fame, Zhao is an all-rounder who can kill the enemy on the battlefield, manage Liu Bei's internal affairs and serve as the magistrate of Guiyang. Zhao Yun surpassed Huang Zhong in all aspects except for his meritorious military service.
Guan Yu's words are more straightforward. Brave people will never be listed with veterans! ? Since Huang Zhong is a veteran, who is a young man? At that time, besides Huang Zhong, Zhao Yun was the most important general. Guan Yu lost his temper in order to give Zhao Yun a keen interest and complain about his years of hard work.
In the reflection, we can also see that the author combined Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, Ma Chao, Huang Zhong and Zhao Yun into one. This is also the origin of what later generations called the five tigers and generals. But in fact, there are no five tigers generals in history, only four generals with the same name, Guan Yu, Ma Chao, Zhang Fei and Huang Zhong, and one general with a different name, Zhao Yun. The author combines Zhao Yun and four generals with the same name into one, and juxtaposes Huang Zhong and Zhao Yun in his comments in order to give Zhao Yun a fair evaluation.
This time, in order to unify Jingzhou and inspire these people's fighting spirit, Liu Bei decided to promote Huang Zhong after careful consideration. In this way, zhaoyun the tail from wagging the dog, had to retreat to miscellaneous general. Although Zhao Yun is upright and does not care about anything, it is understandable that Zhuge Liang and Guan Yu complain about him.
Third, Guan Yu was dissatisfied with Liu Bei's promotion to the king of Hanzhong.
In addition to the above two reasons, Guan Yu may have a third reason, that is, Guan Yu's dissatisfaction with Liu Bei's independence as king of Hanzhong. In Guan Yu's mind, the goal of his struggle with Liu Bei was to help the Han Dynasty, but once Liu Bei had a solid foundation, it changed immediately. Liu Bei actually used violence against violence and became the king of Hanzhong.
Legally speaking, it is completely wrong for Liu Bei to establish himself as the king of Hanzhong. At that time, Emperor Xian of the Han Dynasty was still there, and the Han Dynasty had not yet perished. Liu Bei must get the consent of Emperor Xian of Han Dynasty to promote the King of Hanzhong. Liu Bei simply ignored this article and made his own claim to be king. Throughout the history of the Three Kingdoms, only he and Yuan Shu have achieved this.
Guan Yu, who is full of orthodox thoughts, certainly disapproves of this practice. His Han Shou Hou Ting and official position were sealed by Emperor Xian of Han Dynasty. Now, he is not willing to abandon all this and accept Liu Bei's raised official position.
But he is in the Liu Bei Group, and he can't explicitly oppose it. So he had to find fault with the egg, taking Huang Zhong as an example, and refused to accept the reward. But this noise is just a gesture, and it doesn't really help. Finally, under the persuasion of Fei, he accepted the fait accompli and became the former general of the Shu-Han regime.
But from the words that Fei persuaded Guan Yu in those days, we felt a feeling of extreme fear. One of his words to persuade Guan Yu showed ferocious fangs. The humble envoy of the liegeman, who took his life, couldn't get the worship of the monarch, so he returned it, but he regretted the move and was afraid that he would regret it! ? What this sentence reveals is what will happen to Guan Yu if he does not accept the reward.
If we didn't get any assistance from Liu Bei when we joined Guan Yu in the northern expedition to Jingxiang. After Guan Yu's death, Liu Bei didn't pursue him, so he could feel that after this reward, there must be a rift in their relationship.
Conclusion:
Guan Yu and Huang Zhong took over the fighting friendship in the battle. They were all attracted by each other's heroism and moved by each other's behavior. Together, under the leadership of Liu Bei, they fought for the Shu-Han regime.
However, Liu Bei was promoted to be the queen of Hanzhong, and Guan Yu expressed dissatisfaction with General Huang. There are subjective reasons for Guan Yu and external objective reasons. But with the efforts of Liu Bei, Guan Yu calmed down his dissatisfaction and accepted the reward. Liu Bei vigorously promoted Huang Zhong, which also inspired the fighting spirit of these people who followed Jingzhou.
After Huang Zhong's death, a large number of Jingzhou soldiers, led by Wei Yan, still fought in the forefront of cutting Wei, in order to survive in Shu Han and repay Liu Bei's kindness.
