I. Nearly 900 Ancient Tombs Found in Tianjin According to the archaeological excavation of the Grand Canal National Cultural Park in Xiqing District by the Tianjin Cultural Heritage Protection Center, there are a large number of ancient tombs in this area, totaling nearly 900. Through the excavation of multiple information such as tomb shape, burial depth and funerary objects contained in tombs, it is found that there have been tomb sites here since the Song Dynasty, and the time span has been from the Song Dynasty to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The discovery of this tomb group has a great influence on the archaeological cause in Tianjin and even the whole country, especially on the study of the ancient Grand Canal culture in China.
Secondly, the reasons for the formation of tombs are closely related to China's geomantic theory. The excavation of the tomb has attracted so much attention, one of the reasons is the importance of the excavation site. As we all know, the ancient canal in China had a great influence on ancient politics, economy, culture and society. The Grand Canal not only promoted the economic development of the surrounding areas, but also provided a basis for people's lives at that time.
It is precisely because of the important position of the ancient canal that even in the war-torn ancient society, there have always been traces of people's activities in various dynasties and generations. Moreover, in ancient China, people often held a certain degree of reverence for birth and death, especially when facing death. Even small families will check the feng shui of graves. Under the dual effects of geomantic omen and frequent human activities, tombs of different dynasties gathered here and were excavated by modern civilization after years of erosion.
