1974165438+10 In October, the archaeological expert group of Hebei Province was ordered to go to Pingshan County for archaeological investigation. Archaeologists have discovered some scattered historical relics of the pre-Qin period on the hillside of Zhenxi, Shan Zhi, so they are ready to start excavation and protection. A few days later, local villagers reported to archaeologists that a family in their village had dug a stone from the mountain more than 30 years ago with mysterious words on it, but unfortunately no one knew it. At present, this stone is being used as a stone bench by farmers at home. As a result, archaeologists are very curious and let the villagers have a look at these stones.
In the yard of the villagers' house, the experts used this stone as a bench. At first glance, it looks ordinary, just an unprocessed natural stone, about 90 cm long, 50 cm wide and 40 cm thick. If you look closely, you can also find two lines engraved on one side of the stone, * * * 19. It is certain that this stone is not simple, but the content of the words puzzles experts.
Archaeologists brought the stone carvings back to the institute, and the rubbings they made were sent to the Beijing Institute of Ancient Chinese Characters, where experts cracked them. A few months later, an expert in ancient Chinese characters gave the answer. The above words mean "supervising officials, guarding their old generals and old friends, and daring to worship the later sages", which translates into "supervising the garden as the king is a public official, and guarding the tomb is the old generals and old friends to tell the later sages".
It can be seen that the content of the stone carving is self-evident after translation, and the job responsibilities of "riding on a public horse" and "man-to-man" are mentioned, so experts named it "riding on a public horse to keep a hill and carve stones". However, this is not the end of the story. Archaeologists are always good at exploring the truth of history through historical fragments. According to the seal cutting technology of stone carvings, their age is indeed around the Warring States period, which means that they are even older than the stone drums in the Qin Dynasty. Therefore, Shouqiu stone carving in Gongcheng is also the earliest stone carving found at present, which is of great value to the study of the origin of ancient stone carving.
In addition, archaeologists also found a question, whose tomb is the "mound" in stone carvings? Because there is no tomb found in Shan Zhi Township, and there are tombs guarded by special personnel, and even there are people guarding in the garden, all these indicate that this tomb is unusual, which means that the owner of the tomb may be the king at that time. After some thinking, archaeologists speculate that there must be an undiscovered grave in Shan Zhi town.
After a period of preparation, archaeologists launched a large-scale investigation in Shan Zhi Township at the beginning of 1975. As expected, archaeologists discovered two tombs, one in the west and the other in the city. They were not far from the place where the bus was found guarding the mountain and carving stones, indicating that this area was within the scope of the cemetery at that time. First of all, archaeologists excavated the tombs in the west of the city, and unearthed more than 900 pieces of cultural relics/kloc-0, including bronze ritual vessels, bronze musical instruments and household utensils, as well as chariots and horses pits and tomb pits, which were typical regulations of tombs in the Warring States period. Then, the earliest design drawing of China, the Macro Map, was unearthed.
In further research, the experts also determined the information of the tomb owner, that is, a monarch of Zhongshan State during the Warring States Period. According to historical records, Sun Yat-sen was founded by Bai Di (a minority) in 4 14 BC. Later, after more than 200 years of development, it became a country of thousands of riders, but it was finally destroyed by Zhao in the context of Han, Zhao and Wei ... Since then, Sun Yat-sen has rarely been mentioned in later historical materials, so some historians doubt the existence of Sun Yat-sen, but since the discovery of Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum, it has proved the records in historical books.
From an ordinary archaeological investigation, to the unexpected discovery of stone carvings on a public bus guarding a mountain, to the discovery of Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, and finally to the record of supporting historical materials, scientists and experts are amazed. All this seems accidental, but there is also inevitability behind it, that is, the exploration spirit of archaeologists. Anyway, the mound stone carving in Gongcheng is a great stone carving, which is more worth studying than the stone drum in Qin Dynasty.
