Anxiang, belonging to Changde City, Hunan Province, is located in the northwest of Dongting Lake. It is the north gate of Hunan Province, located at the junction of four cities and eight counties in Hunan and Hubei provinces, with a total area of 1.087 square kilometers. Belonging to the core circle of Dongting Lake Ecological Economic Zone, it is the only place where the Yangtze River "three mouths" (Taipingkou, Ouchikou and Songzikou) flood discharge and Lishui flow into Dongting Lake.

Xiangbai Lake is located in the west of Anxiang, only 10 km away from the county seat. According to the record of an xiang in Shuijing Note, the original name of the lake was Shanbei Lake, and the local people took homophonic Shanpo Lake. According to water conservancy records in county annals, Shanpo Lake was originally a part of the ancient Yunmengze, which belongs to the scope of the 800-mile Dongting, and has been gradually reclaimed since the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
