In order to adapt to the development of Guilin's air transport market, at the beginning of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan, the Civil Aviation Administration of China and the government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region reached a consensus on speeding up the development of Guangxi's civil aviation. It was clear that during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period, the facilities of Guilin Liangjiang International Airport will be improved, the airport will be expanded to meet the requirements of A380 aircraft, and the terminal building and related supporting facilities will be gradually expanded, making Liangjiang International Airport an important tourist hub airport in China. The expansion of A380 alternate airport is one of the 11th Five-Year Plan projects of Guilin Airport. Through the expansion, the runway and taxiway of Liangjiang International Airport will be widened from 60m and 38m in 20 12 to 75m and 60m respectively, and two A380 and other similar aircraft parking spaces will be built, and corresponding navigation AIDS and other projects will be built. The fire protection level of the flight area will reach 9. After the expansion, Liangjiang International Airport has become one of the few airports (4F Airport) in China that can guarantee the take-off and landing of similar aircraft such as A380.
On March 8th, 20 13, Guangxi Airport Group Corporation organized the track and lighting project of A380 apron project of Guilin Liangjiang International Airport to be completed and accepted. The acceptance of the A380 apron project marks the completion of all the construction projects of the extension project of the A380 aircraft alternate field of Guilin Liangjiang International Airport, which makes Guilin Airport have the support conditions for taking off and landing the Airbus A380 aircraft, the world's largest passenger aircraft, and greatly improves the transportation support capacity of Guilin Airport.
