Historical figures in Changlong town
Chimelong is a town with glorious revolutionary tradition and an old revolutionary base area. Zhuo Yuanqiu, a natural village behind Xialan Village Courtyard, followed Dr. Sun Yat-sen in his early years to participate in the democratic revolution that overthrew the Qing government and died heroically in the Guangzhou Uprising. He is one of the seventy-two martyrs in Huanghuagang. During the first revolutionary civil war, Ye Fei and Tao Zhu, the older generation of proletarian revolutionaries, led the revolutionary activities in eastern Fujian many times in Changlong. Yang Erchang, the first secretary of Lianjiang County Committee, has long led the people of Lianjiang County to carry out vigorous guerrilla struggle in Changlong. Lin Nenmei of Waiao Village was the first Soviet government chairman of Lianjiang. Renqin Liang from Xiayang is the first Communist Youth League Secretary of Lianjiang County. Chimelong people made great sacrifices for the liberation of China people and the birth of new China.
