Introduction to Balingshan National Forest Park

Baling Mountain, also known as Gulong Mountain, is composed of eight ridges, stretching for 15 kilometers from north to south. It looks like a group of dragons dancing and a thousand cavalry competing, hence its name. During the Yuan and Ming dynasties, the mountain was famous for its eight local specialties: pine trees, white peaches, fragrant pears, sweet apricots, tangerines, chestnuts, green tea and yellow flowers. It was also known as Babao Mountain. According to records in Jiangling Zhiyu written by Emperor Qianlong, King Chuzhuang, King Kangwu of Chu, King Ping of Chu, King Zhao of Chu, Concubine Fan and 11 vassal kings of the Ming Dynasty were all buried here.

Baling Mountain is a semi-hilly area. It is located between Jingzhou City, Chuji Nancheng and Guwancheng. It is also assisted by the "Four Gods" of Qinglong, White Tiger, Suzaku and Xuanwu. It is a "fengshui treasure land" . As early as the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period, it became the cemetery area of ??Chu State. Most of the Chu kings who ruled in Jiangling are buried here. There are many ancient tombs in the mountains, and there are more than 320 large-scale ancient tombs that have been discovered. Among them, Chu tombs are the most numerous, followed by Han tombs, and there are also tombs from other dynasties.

Pine trees are the most widely distributed tree species in the park. They are evergreen all year round. Their proudly erect branches are not only beautiful in shape, but also have ever-changing mimicry, which makes people imagine. Poets from past dynasties have left many magnificent and moving poems here.
