What kind of person is Su Shi?

Su Shi's official ability and political level are also remarkable, surpassing many poets in the Tang Dynasty. Why don't you ask Li Bai to try to be an official? You let Du Fu go to Dangdang to see it? I think most of them have failed. The reason, I think, still stems from the differences between the imperial examinations in Tang and Song Dynasties-as we know, the Jinshi examination in Tang Dynasty mainly focused on poetry and fu, and paid attention to the candidates' literary talent. Therefore, most of the people who can be admitted are gifted scholars, who can recite poems and write fu, and have a strong literati temperament. There is no doubt that most of these people are not suitable for being an official, because talent and ability are two different things, not the same thing. Of course, some awesome people, such as Zhang Jiuling and Li Shen, are not excluded.

But when it came to the imperial examination in the Song Dynasty, it was completely different: the imperial examination in the Song Dynasty no longer focused on poetry, but paid more attention to strategy, that is, put forward its own unique views on political problems or penalties of some countries at that time and their relations with neighboring countries, which was the examination. Therefore, a successful candidate should not only have literary talent, but also have the ability to govern. Therefore, we look at the great writers and poets in the Song Dynasty. They are often good at being officials. They can benefit one party at the local level and make achievements at the central level, such as Ouyang Xiu and Sima Guang, Wang Anshi and Fan Zhongyan. They are all outstanding politicians. So did our Su Shi, who made great achievements in both local work and later central work.
