The rise of "Guanlan fever" is by no means overnight. Driven by the four wheels of "ecology", "culture", "sports" and "leisure", Guanlan is speeding up its pace and keeping up with the pace of "economic spillover" in the downtown area of Shenzhen. The original base of Guanlan printmaking tried to cry for the first time and sent an invitation to printmakers all over the world; The third ICIF sub-venue was successfully listed, and efforts were made to build a cultural industry chain platform; The Mission Hills Golf World Cup, which was named by Omega for 12 years in a row, will officially land in 1 1 month, becoming the top tournament in the world. ...
Today, it is difficult for us to look at Guanlan from a traditional perspective, and it is also difficult to think about the "brand qualitative change" behind the word Guanlan from a traditional way of thinking. On this 90-square-kilometer land, development, change and expectation are intertwined. It is in this development, change and expectation that Guanlan is undergoing an all-round upgrade.
In order to deeply understand and interpret the new Guanlan, Shenzhen Business Daily specially published a large-scale regional special issue-Focus on Guanlan.

Walking along the winding narrow lane, you can see the ancient market of Guanlan, which is full of tiles, broken walls and arcades. It is hard to imagine that this old Guanlan Street in front of you once carried the bustling and noisy smoke clouds in Shenzhen.
From the accidental discovery in 2004, it was listed as an immovable cultural relic protection unit in Shenzhen, and to the renovation of the "empty building" of the old street in 2006, this ancient market of Guanlan, which has almost faded out of sight, regained its century-old history.
Guanlan Ancient City, Dongmen Old Street, Shajing Qingping Market and Shatoujiao Old Street are also called "Four Famous Cities" in Shenzhen. But today, most of these old streets have been washed away by years and disappeared into the dust of history. Only this ancient Guanlan market, which originated in the early Qing Dynasty and flourished in the late Qing Dynasty, is well preserved.
On April 3, the reporter and his party had the honor to visit the ancient site of Guanlan. Through the old street and the watchtower, they vaguely touched a Guanlan Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival with strong Lingnan Hakka color in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.
Old Street: Reproducing the Commercial History of Shenzhen
Walking on the mossy stone path and wandering in the old street, the pavements on both sides are locked with iron locks, embroidered with spots and few pedestrians, which is quite different from the information recorded in Guanlan ancient market. It is known as "merchants gather, traffic is busy, and the city is endless."
The person in charge of guanlan street Office told the reporter that Guanlan Ancient Market, which was discovered in 2004, was regarded as the only market block in our city that was completely preserved in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, and was called "the first street of modern folk history in Shenzhen". In order to prevent any new damage, Baoan District implemented the "empty building" rectification action in June last year. After that, the old street became the "empty lane" seen today.
According to reports, the total area of Guanlan Ancient Market is about 26,000 square meters, and it consists of a north-south Guanlan Street, four east-west Dongmen Street, Xindong Street, Maibu Street, Longgang Ding, Ximen Street and Yanhe Street, and so on. Among them, the longest street is about 1 50m, the shortest is only10m, the widest is only 9m, and the narrowest is less than1m..
In its heyday, Guanlan Old Street was full of shops and businessmen. In addition to old brands such as Yizhang Qianzhuang, Henglong Qianzhuang, Baoshan Jinpu, Gongyi Restaurant, Fuji Watch Store, Ye Guangsheng Watch Store, Mansheng Clothing Store, Yemanshan Wooden Store and Dengkang Dog Meat Store, it is also a pawnshop, teahouse, inn, sedan chair, calligraphy and painting shop, casino, prostitute village, opium hall and paper-making shop.
According to relevant records, there were many trading methods in Guanlan Old Street at that time, including retail, wholesale and even free bidding. Each market day can trade 300 tons of rice, 200-300 tons of sugar, 300-400 cows, 1000 pigs and 15 tons of fresh fish. In addition, there are fairs on the first, fourth and seventh days of the lunar calendar. The market usually starts at six or seven in the morning and ends at five or six in the afternoon, and stays up all night when the business is busy.
Businessmen come and go here all over China, Hongkong and even more than 20 foreign provinces and cities. Earlier, there were rumors that there had been a silver ticket from Rishengchang Bank, an ancient city in Pingyao, Shanxi Province, in Guanlan Old Street, indicating that Rishengchang Bank in Shanxi had business dealings with merchants in the old street.
Diaolou: the first line of defense of Guanlan ancient city
In addition to the old streets, diaolou is also an important part of Guanlan ancient market.
According to some data, Guanlan Ancient Site is based on Guanlan River to the north, and there are tall ancient blockhouses on the other three sides, which have replaced the city wall and become the first line of defense of Guanlan Ancient City.
"The 1 14 ancient watchtower discovered by Guanlan in the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China is by far the largest and best preserved ancient watchtower in Shenzhen. Among them, there is an 8-story 30-meter-high tower, which is the most precious in Shenzhen in terms of the number of floors and the height of the building. "
Due to the lack of good protection and wind and rain erosion, many watchtowers have been unable to visit and can only be watched outside. According to experts from the same trade, most of these towers are traditional Hakka buildings in China during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and they are symbols of Hakka wisdom and wealth. The early watchtower was a defensive commercial building built by merchants in the ancient market to resist the harassment of bandits. In the middle period, the defensive significance of the watchtower weakened and gradually evolved into a symbol of merchant wealth; In the later period, watchtowers were mostly built by overseas Chinese who returned home to show their glory. They not only become taller and taller, but also become more and more exquisite and luxurious because of the combination of patterns and decorations with western architectural styles.
It is reported that these towers are most famous as "Changcheng Tower" and "Shaochang Tower". Among them, the "Changcheng Building" located in Dongmen Street, also known as Wenchang Ancient Artillery Building, was built by Chen Guisen and Chen Brothers of Zhenneng family. The whole building covers an area of 42 square meters and is 30 meters high, with 8 floors in total. It is the tallest tower in Shenzhen and is called "the first floor in Shenzhen".
Regarding the historical significance of watchtowers, the expert believes that the existence of these watchtowers covers the history and culture once owned by Shenzhen, an immigrant city, and may be more humanistic than any modern building.
Guihutang Laowei:
Traditional Hakka residential villages
If the old streets and watchtowers condense the commercial history of Shenzhen, then Gui Hu Tang Lao Wei is the material for studying the traditional Hakka culture in Shenzhen.
When I first arrived in Guihutang, Lao Wei, the reporter saw that the whole plane of Lao Wei was almost square, with distinctive regional and ethnic characteristics. Lao Wei village is northwest to southeast, and the only gate is located on the east side of the south wall, which is divided into three parts: front gate, middle gate and inner gate. The main entrance is written in regular script "Tongqing Gate". It is said that it is because of Feng Shui. The fence and most of the buildings inside the fence are compacted with concrete. The most distinctive feature is that there are a row of square holes on both sides of the gate. According to the introduction, these holes are called defense systems after wooden stakes are inserted, which is Lao Lanrong's first line of defense.
In the center of Lao Wei is a building for sacrificial ceremonies and festivals. It is said that this building is mainly for local residents to worship, and it is particularly lively here every New Year. Behind Lao Wei is a two-story building, which is said to be a private school. It was specially built to teach ethnic minorities before, and it was gradually used for sacrifices and birthdays after the Republic of China. According to the local villagers, most of the residents in their 80s got married in this private school.
Gui Hu Tang Lao Wei is one of the most intact, largest and complete Hakka traditional residential villages in Bao 'an, which provides complete physical data for studying the migration history, customs, culture, society, politics and economic forms of the Hakka people in Shenzhen, and has important historical value.
