The establishment and development of Lin Jizong is one of the five southern schools of Zen revealed by the abbot of Yun Xi Zen master Yifeng Huangbai Temple.

Monks and disciples are just and mysterious (? -867) studied Buddhism for 33 years, and then went to Jianlinfan Hospital on the Hutuo River in Zhengding, Zhou Zhen, Hebei, to widely promote the new Zen method advocated by Yun Xi. This new Zen method is popular because Yi Xuan held a clan ceremony in Lin Ji Hospital, which was later called "Lin Ji School", and Bo Huang Temple became the ancestral home of Lin Ji School.
At the same time, another monk, Chang Guan, also opened a dharma hall in Wufeng Mountain, Yifeng. Changguan and Yun went with Baizhang Huaihai Gate, and advocated Zen with each other in Yifeng. Although Changguan did not establish a sect, the clan flourished and Wufeng Mountain became one of the Zen ancestral halls.
Lin Ji originated from Huangbai Mountain in Yifeng, flourished in Zhengding, Zhou Zhen, and later spread to the monk Chu Yuan (986- 1039), and was divided into Huanglong School and Yang Qi School. The founder of Huanglong is Huinan (1002- 1069). Huinan was a beginner in Yunmen, and later he joined Lin Ji and lived in Huangbai. There are 83 legal heirs, including Zu Xin (1025-100) and Ke Wen (1025- 102). After Ke Wen died in Huinan, he moved to Dongshan to open a church, with 36 followers, and Dehong (namely Huihong1071-165438, from Yifeng) was the first person. Dehong is not only famous for his poems, but also good at Zen, and he once wrote Lin Ji Zhi. Zu Xin meditated in Huangbai Mountain for three times, then went to Huanglong Temple in Nanchang, and finally went to Wei Qing in Lingyuan (/kloc-Hans, a direct descendant of Huanglong at the end of the 2nd century). Japanese monk Rong introduced Huanglong School to Japan, which made it develop greatly in Japan. At the beginning of13rd century, the Japanese monk Jun still introduced Buddhism to Japan. Of the 24 schools of Zen in Japanese Kamakura period, 20 were sent to Yang Qi for legal system. In the 1980s, there were more than 5 million Lin Jizong believers in Japan.
The Zen thought advocated by Yun Xi is unintentional, that is, the theory of unintentional. In this regard, Yun once explained: "People who have no heart have no heart. Such as the body, such as the wood and stone inside, motionless and unshakable; It's like a void outside. It doesn't matter if you don't plug it. No position, no appearance, no gain or loss. " He also said, "But if you can be careless, it's over." . So he called his Zen method a way to teach others how to communicate with others. Yun inherited Mazu Yi Dao's thought that "the heart is the Buddha" and advocated that "the heart is the Buddha". "Sex is the heart, the heart is the Buddha, and the Buddha is the law", which shows the idea of wanting to have a heart like a Buddha. Starting from this thought, he advocated that "the mind is the law, and the law is the heart", "with the heart, with the heart", and later generations have the saying that "the heart is close to the heart".
Yun Xi did not advocate reading Buddhist scriptures, but advocated reading "case-solving" (that is, the accounts and quotations of Zen ancestors); Do not advocate hard training, pay attention to epiphany. His way of attracting believers is straightforward and fierce, and he often makes people realize it with his hands or epigrams. Anyone who asks the cloud for Dharma will be hit before getting started, and those who can understand this blow will be accepted as disciples. Yi Xuan asked Yunxi for Zen righteousness three times, and was beaten by Yun Xi three times, so he had to leave Huangbai. After being guided by the great fool Zen master, Yi Xuan became enlightened, returned to Huang Bai, and finally got inspiration from his wish. Later, Yi Xuan attracted a monk from Lin Ji Hospital. He also used the method of "taking a chance", accompanied by a loud drink, which was later called "taking a chance".
In the second year of Tang Huichang (842), Pei Xiu was invited to preach Zen in longxing temple, Hongzhou, in order to observe it and ask it at any time. More than a thousand scholars. In the second year of Dazhong (848), Pei Xiu moved to Wanling Town and welcomed him into Kaiyuan Temple. He often consulted and recorded what he said, titled "Bo Huang Xi Yun Zen Master's Mind", which was widely published. This book was regarded as a must-read case by later Linjizong monks. I hope another volume of quotations and Wanling Records will be handed down from generation to generation.
I hope my meditation is unprecedented and there will be no one after me. When he died, he left a sentence, "There is nothing before, nothing in the previous life, nothing in this world, and nothing in the afterlife." Li Chen, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, appreciated his words very much, so he gave him the title of "Duanji Zen Master" and respected him as an unprecedented monk.
Four racks
If the theory of self-reliance and self-improvement, Zen is simple and easy, it is the most clear and easy to understand, which is like the four-material bamboo slips of Master Yongming Yanshou. According to four data, people who don't know religion must read Buddha. Even people who teach all religions should read it. Although there is no certificate, you should always recite Buddha and get rid of life and death. Master Yongming is the incarnation of Amitabha, who is merciful and compassionate and educates all beings. The fourth material Jane is:
"Zen and pure land are like a tiger in a corner. This life is a teacher and the afterlife is a Buddha. Pure land without Zen. Ten thousand people go, but they want to see amitabha. Why not be enlightened? Zen without pure land, ten people and nine roads, if the shadow passes, Toure will go with him. No Zen, no pure land, iron bed and copper pillars, thousands of lives, no one to rely on. 」
The above sixteen sentences are really kind. I hope everyone will pay attention! To understand the meaning of these four materials, we must first understand how to call Zen. How to call it a net? What do you mean, yes? What do you mean nothing? When you look at the word Zen net clearly, you will understand the meaning of the four materials. So, there is no Zen. Make a little choice. The so-called Zen Buddhists are directed at people's hearts and become Buddhas by seeing nature. If you teach, you will understand. Open your mind to explain, which proves that when you read spiritual wisdom, you can feel the body. Therefore, it is necessary to see the true colors in order to be Zen. Otherwise it doesn't count. The so-called "pure land man" is the belief of pure land three, and he is eager to survive in the pure land. Believe in the truth, be willing to cut, be diligent and brave. Therefore, we must have the confidence to make an unquestionable decision, have sincere wishes, and have some perseverance to be considered pure land. Otherwise it doesn't count. Every time the world thinks it's doing nothing.
Look at that dead woman, even if she has Zen, if she talks a few words of Buddha, she will be clean. This is a big mistake, a big mistake. In a word, Zen is a clear-headed and clear-headed kung fu. There is pure land, but there is a certainty of chanting Buddha and dying. This is the most important road. However, seeing nature clearly is only enlightenment. No certificate yet. Can't live and can't die. "If you realize it, there will be no life and death." Non-native language When understanding is the first step, only after understanding can we truly practice the positive road. What you don't understand is blind practice and falling into the pit. Therefore, we must enlighten them first. This is preliminary kung fu. If you want to go home, you need to add fuel to the fire and make progress.
The first sentence of the four bamboo slips has Zen and pure land. Not only have great insight, but also have the ability to understand, and can truly believe in their desire to survive in the West. This is a great understanding. It is as strong as a tiger. If you can recite Buddha again, you can be sure of life and death. Isn't it like a tiger with horns He said, "It's like a tiger with horns. Take out what you have learned and done to educate all beings. Open the eyes of all beings and be a teacher of nature. So: "Be a teacher in this world. Look at people with a clear heart, read Buddha to survive, and when you die, you will be born with the above products. In a flash, flowers blossomed and flowers fell to see the Buddha, which proved the first place in Jiao Yuan. one hundred
In the world of Buddhism, you are the Buddha of two places, and you should follow the class and transform all beings. So: "Become a Buddha in the future. 」

You can go at any time. Once you die, you will see Tommy with your own eyes and hear the wonderful methods. You will prove that Kun's life was caused by you, and you will be in never back down. So, he said, "But if you can see Tommy, why don't you be enlightened? From this point of view, pure land practice is really good.
The third thing is, although you can fully understand it, if you don't wish to live in the pure land, you can't settle down, because you haven't got the Tao yet. So as the saying goes, "Zen has no pure land, and ten people are nine miles away." The so-called "ten people and nine roads" means that although you can be enlightened, your argument fails. So, Yunlu. Or cloud: "Ten people go the wrong way", and the word "wrong way" is also wrong. Is there a Zen master who knows everything but goes the wrong way? People who are fully aware have no real position to settle down. I'm afraid it's either success or death. Throughout his life, he was born with good and evil karma. That's awesome! It is better to pray for Buddha, which is the most secure and reliable. So, he said, "If the shadow is there now, the duel will be with him." This yin refers to the cause of good and evil from the beginning, not the magical realm of the five yin.
Fourth, the pure land without Zen refers to people who generally don't know how to practice. They have neither the sexual effort nor the practice of vowing to recite Buddha, which is really dangerous. Crime is inevitable and hell is inevitable. Who will rely on reincarnation?
