North Yard Gate was named after Qing Dynasty. The North Yard is the Shaanxi Governor's yamen. Because it is located in the north of the governor's office in Shaanxi but Gansu, it is named North Yard, and because the street leads directly to the governor's office, it is named North Yard Gate. Hui people are the main people here. In the Tang Dynasty, Islam was introduced into Xi and mosques were built. Religious people lived and traded in temples, and gradually formed a historical block with unique architectural, environmental, cultural and socio-economic characteristics dominated by the cultural life of the Hui people. On the fourth day of September in the 26th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty, in order to avoid Eight-Nation Alliance's coming to Beijing, Empress Dowager Cixi and Emperor Guangxu fled to xi 'an in a hurry, lived in the South Courtyard first, and then moved to the Governor's Mansion in the North Courtyard, which was called the "Palace". Official documents, official visits, and tributes from various provinces were all handled here, so various banks and shops around the North Courtyard came into being and flourished.
