Our married daughter can go back to her parents’ home to celebrate the New Year.
Nowadays, there are very few children at home, so where to spend the Chinese New Year basically depends on the children’s wishes. Of course, some places are still relatively traditional. A married daughter cannot go home to celebrate the New Year, or her husband's family says they cannot let their son go to his parents' house to celebrate the New Year. For example, my sister-in-law’s parents’ family does not allow them to go back to their parents’ home to celebrate the New Year.
Nowadays, most of our daughters go back to their parents’ homes to celebrate the New Year. Some spend the New Year on one side, and some have their parents follow their children. Wherever the children go, they also celebrate the New Year, and the elderly on both sides spend the New Year together.
What we want during the Chinese New Year is family reunion and joy. Reunion together is the most important thing. No matter where we celebrate the New Year, it can be discussed. As parents, we are all reasonable. As children, we should also ask the elderly. It would be great if everyone could live a happy and peaceful festival.
