Qingquan Temple

Qingquan Temple, built in the Tang Dynasty, is a thousand-year-old temple famous in eastern Hubei. According to the records of Xishui County: "There is Qingquan Temple two miles east of the city. In the sixth year of Zhenyuan of the Tang Dynasty, a well was drilled into the ground. It is bitter and sweet, so it is named after the temple." In front of the temple, the Xi River flows from east to west, surrounded by mountains and jungles. With gurgling clear springs and bursts of Sanskrit sounds, it is a rare geomantic treasure. Xu Shouhui, the leader of the peasant uprising in the late Yuan Dynasty, destroyed the temple and built the capital. The Qingquan Temple was rebuilt in the Ming Dynasty and was also rebuilt in the late Qing Dynasty. After the Anti-Japanese War, Qingquan Temple became increasingly neglected and became Xishui Simple Normal School for a time. It was later destroyed in 1967 during the Cultural Revolution. For thousands of years, Qingquan Temple has attracted literati and celebrities from all dynasties, leaving behind many famous poems, such as Liu Yuxi's "Visiting Qingquan Temple", Su Dongpo's "Huanxisha·Visiting Qingquan Temple" and so on.
